All those who like to slag off Yodel - a delivery was scheduled for between 12.00 and 13.00 When the driver arrived @ 12.30 there was a note on the door asking him to wait, as the resident had to go and pick her car up.... Luckily he was due a meal break, so he decided to kill 2 birds with one stone and took his meal break outside her house. Result - one pleased customer, who probably won't tell anyone about how her Yodel driver went the 'extra mile', and no 'sorry we missed you' card.

I would say the resident has a cheek
1 hour delivery slot and they still go out

Ipswich parcel hasn't yet left the depot and Colchester one has not yet arrived.

Tearing my flaming hair out here, looks like another day i've got to get up and wait- I need much more sleep than 8 hours overnight to be able to function and not going to get it this week!

Complaints going into the retailers tomorrow, a parcel sitting in depot for 2 days and another not being delivered in same time frame isn't good enough.

Ah the magic of MSE, my Amazon order from Colchester has just turned up.

Apparently they are all going through Colchester now, Ipswich is being shut in April and all staff have been made redundant.

I have praised the Ipswich driver before, he is a great bloke, inherited from HDNL, always turns up at a similar time and I was really sorry to hear they'd all lost their jobs.

I know from time to time things are changed to improve effiiciency, but in the case of Yodel I do not see how shutting depot's is going to help, unless they actually put more staff/drivers into the others which I doubt.

Sadly ive also had a bad experience with Yodel however the customer service lady was very helpful and apologetic but the driver lied through his teeth claiming no one was at the property - the whole family were there including the very noise sensitive dog. IThe woman admitted it was probably because he couldnt find the house, not an excuse to lie i dont think! This on top of the item being 18 days late due to a "depot issue" has put me right off.

Usually i wouldnt mind but it was a present for my neices 1st christmas.

Well since sitting at the Depot from Monday (techincally it got there Saturday, i've had deliveries from them on a Sunday before as well) it has finally been loaded onto the drivers van. But not out for delivery. So got to wait up again just in case it is coming today. And got to go out tomorrow. Who's betting they will try tomorrow, miss me and I will have to wait up again Monday.

I am so flipping mad with them and it's not even my parcel, but I have to deal with this ****** when all I desperately need is a few days where I can sleep, and from next week I have 3 Hospital appointments and a funeral before the end of the month. Considering I need well more than 8 hours sleep of a night it's hard on me when I have so much to do but life has to go on despite me being ill and the Hospital appointments hopefully will bear fruit soon (been waiting 5 years though and they are on the verge of sending me to another Hospital over an hour away via train, nightmare). So much at once on top of all this parcel bull is too much really but what can I do.

Told Mum no more parcels please and asked her again to complain to the Book People.

Maybe it is a good thing after all that the Ipswich depot is closing. But then i'd expect the good service from Colchester to go downhill since they will have more work on and i'm guessing the same resources.

On the plus side the Hermes one turned up yesterday despite being expected Friday. Mind you I have asked and asked Mum to check each day and keep me up to date so I know exactly when they are due but it doesn't happen. Told her it would make my life easier but still doesn't happen.

That's the second time i've moaned on MSE only to have the doorbell ring! Glad it's here, box is partially open so Mum will have to make sure all is there and it was sent on a 48 hour service :rotfl:

Of course, if some books are missing I am  at the thought of replacements being sent out!
  • The Book People boxes are attrocious. They use a different type than usual where all the edges are perforated and then the seams are glued down. The glue doesn't hold and the perforations just make the boxes tear on the edges.
Of course, customers think it down to us when the reality is if they were sent in a decent box they'd be fine.I've delivered hundereds/thousands of these over the years and they really stick out in my mind as so many of the boxes are damaged.

That may be so, but my problems were nothing to do with the boxes - just failure to deliver.

To be fair to Book People, if you ask them they will note your account so that Yodel aren't used for future deliveries.

Thanks for your input DeliveryDriver. Still doesn't account for the fact that a parcel sent on a 48 hour service took them twice as long to deliver, tracking wasn't updated etc.
