In Manchester, the China town supermarkets have much cheaper loose tea
than Tesco or Sainsburys and a far wider range.

I used to work in Plaistow in East London. I had such a choice I was spoilt - especially with Queen's Market (now threatened by a proposed Asda).

Loads of fresh fruit & veg at great prices. The pound a bowl that's now eveywhere was going on for years, but without the dodgy traders who hide the rotten stuff at the bottom of the bowl.

On some days you could get a box of melons (galia usually) or mangoes for £1.00. You'd take home what you wanted and leave the rest in the kitchen at work for anyone to help themselves.

Also Green Street is great for cheap prices for fabrics if you're handy with a needle and thread. Or, like me a staple gun for reupholstery.

Must visit soon.

They really are good even for meat/chicken and so many variety's of spices/ fruits/ veg etc

wow just reading the medicinal uses for this...makes interesting reading...I'm not sure I'm going to like the taste but I'm gonna give it a go.
