Thank GOD I'm not freaked by spiders, because as soon as September hit us, so did Spider Season.
Oh.
My.
God!!!!
WHY are they all so bloody HUGE this year :eek: ? Every one I've seen in our house this year has been all legs and big fat bodies. Is this because they have actually eaten all the normal spiders?
Will every future September see ever bigger and fatter spiders?
Or are all the big beggars all in our house, and everyone else has the normal ones?

Apparently the damp summer has sent them all breeding crazy. Lovely. The frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

havent seen any big ones here yet. I've had a couple of big pet ones in the past - one lived behind the tumble drier, the other lived in the corner of the back window.
I actually dont mind the big ones as they tend to move slower. Its the smaller ones that dangle from the ceiling that surprise me!!XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX:wave:XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX0 -

I wish people wouldn't talk about spiders. I need to re-spray all the doors and windows with Raid I think.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0 -
We live a really old house, which seems to be a haven for big house spiders. Every year the girls name all the big web-spinners taking residence in the foyer. (I sweep all the other ceilings.)
This year I can confirm there are a good many big bugg*rs skittering around, usually being chased by the cat or the toddler. If they survive the interest of those two, then they've earned their place in our house!0 -
Why are you all so scared?
They are only iggle, they won't harm you.
They only want to survive as much as we do, they are more scared than you are of them.
If they make you feel uncomfortable just get a glass and some tissue and find somewhere outside where it wont get blown away by the wind.... Like I said, they are only trying to survive..
And where there is one, there is another, and then their babies....... AWE0 -
Try putting conkers in their paths- they tend to walk the same route over and over again. For some reason they hate the smell of conkers and will stay away from them.
I used to be scared of spiders, but had to get over it because OH is paralysed by fear when one comes near. I am now chief spider catcher/ releaser... turns out my love for him is stronger than my fear lol.
Now slugs... totally different matter. I go cold and clammy just typing the word
