  • My capped rate has just ended so bills have risen from £70 per month Gas & Electric to £110!

Atleast I have saved the £50 per year thanks to this post.

    Cheers.

Can anyone tell me how it takes for the Online Saver 2 to be updated on your on-line account? I rang and switched last Saturday so to expect it to be changed today is probably premature but I'd like to see it by the end of the week. Or am I being overly optimistic?

Next step, get SP to reduce the DD.

Not sure how long it takes...

Both myself and a friend phoned and switched on the 12th Jan... still waiting to see it appear on my online account area...

That's if they have switched me at all

A word of wisdom if anyone is already a Scottish Power dual fuel customer.

Having gone through the normal Gas & Electricity comparison sites,it recommended the Scottish power online energy saver 2 to make a saving. All i had to do was go on their website and convert from a premier paper bill account and input my meter readings and I would be away.

This was going smoothly until I was given several options which only included the Online Energy option,i clicked this as it gave me a saving anyway.

I enquired with SP customer services who emailed me that the Online Energy saver 2 tariff had not been loaded onto their systems yet but I was on their database and would be added within TWO WEEKS. I wait in anticipation

If you have converted in this way I would check which tariff your on otherwise you may not be saving as much as you believe.

Always a pleasure never a chore
  • the online line energy saver 2 has the same unit prices as the standard online energy prices but has an increased online discount. This saver discount is an additional £45 per year that is applied in addition to normal online discount of £15 per. This gives a total discount of £60. The discount is applied on a daily basis NOT a lump sum. The £45 is applied to the electricity portion of your bill.

It is available to dual fuel monthly direct debit customers only and is a standing charge only package. It is available to both IGT and Transco gas supplies.

The online energy saver tariff is now available on ScottishPowers billing system and they can change your tariff straight away if you are already setup as an exsisting online energy customer. If your not online already please register for a standard online account (paying by monthly dd) and once this is setup (normally overnight) you can call/email to convert to Online energy saver 2. Online energy saver 2 is not available directly on the ScottishPower websitewhen setting up and online account so you will have to call or email to have it applied.

If you are on a capped package or the orginal online energy saver 1 (from last year) then it would not be immediately beneficial to change to online energy saver 2 but it may work out better in the long run.

Only the discount is guarnteed till 2008 the prices could potential go down (or up). The prices for the orginal online energy saver 1 have not changed since it was available over a year ago even though there were several prices rise during that time.

ScottishPower have just launched a new look website so check it out!

This is confusing, and not what it says on the ScottishPower website about online energy saver2.

The deal is described in the sp pricing leaflet for energy saver2:

    http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/pricing_pdfs/ole/olesaver2.pdf

And it says that customers taking both fuels get the "normal" annual discount is "up to £15.75 (inc VAT)".

In addition it goes on to say that ES2 customers will also get (until at least 1/1/08) an extra annual discount (credited daily).

This is stated to be based on an extra £5 (exc VAT) for gas and £55 (exc VAT) for electricity. The actual daily discount is given as 1.438p (inc VAT) for gas, and 15.822p (inc vat) for electricity. (These daily figures are more relevant than the annual ones, as this extra discount being only guaranteed until 1/1/08 could mean that no-one applying now would actually receive the full annual discount (which is stated on the website to be £63 (inc VAT).

Please could SP_eContact clear up this confusion? (ie the extra discount is quoted to be £55 + £5 = £60 (exc VAT) on the website , yet the post above contradicts this)
  • Hi sorry for the confusion.

The normal online discount (for managing the account online) is £15 which is split £5 to gas and £10 to elec.

Is you are on online energy saver tariff this is replaced by an online dicount of £60 which is split £5 gas and £55 elec.

i.e. the online energy saver discount is £45 more than the normal standard online discount.

The online discount is a seperate discount from the "gas and electricity" dual fuel discount that you also get for having both fuels with SP. You will receive this discount on any dual fuel package. i.e. this is already applied to standard online accounts as well as new online energy saver accounts. This can be upto £15 in some areas.

for a standard online account you would get:
gas and electricity discount of upto £15 AND
    online energy discount of £15

For online energy saver 2 you would get:
gas and electricity discount of upto £15 AND
    online energy discount of £60

Overall the difference between standard online accounts and Online energy saver 2 is an extra £45 discount.

Well despite their new website and 6 working days, my account still doesn't state that I've been switched over to online saver 2. I'm not very impressed.

All these delays are eating into our 12 months discount!

Unless they backdate the switch we cannot even get 11 months now - unless they extend it beyond 1/1/08, the current end date of the scheme.

Well I tried phoning but couldn't get though sent a email and this is the response:
    Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately the Online Saver 2 is only available to new customers and would not apply to yourself.

I apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards,
