I called their online servicing number and they wouldn't help me. They advised I called 0800 400 200 option 2. I did this, and the lady said that I shouldn't move from online saver 1 to online saver 2 because currently I pay (MEB area):
    Elec Standing 12.74 Units 5.5
    Gas Standing 10.95 Units 1.805

and on online enegery saver 2 I'd be paying:
    Elec Standing 12.74 Units 7.843
    Gas Standing 10.95 Units 2.507

So the extra unit costs would easily eat the extra £50 discount

I've checked my current prices on the last bill. and they are correct (units 5.5/1.8)

I found their current price list here:

    http://www.scottishpower.co.uk/homeenergy/aboutyourbill/pdfs/standard/midlands.pdf

And this does indeed show the (7.8/2.5) unit prices she said I'd get under "Saver 2"

So I *think* if you are currently on Online Saver 1 changing to 2 might well cost you MORE.

Hi what does the meb refer to - I am on online saver standard but pay electricity 9.810 per kw and standing charge of 11.27, for gas 2.497 pkw and standing charge 9.90 pd. when I compare to the prices for energy saver 2 I think I would be worse off too!

I'm in the old MEB area - not sure if this makes any difference to the prices quoted.

You are on a capped price mate thats why she advised you not to change, your prices would rise to the existing rates. Check your package type in the top right hand corner of your bill.

The prices are different depending on which part of the country you live in.

You would definately benefit from EnergySaver2, I am assuming you do not live in the Midlands supplier area and you are on the current rates for your area.

The bill says package type "Online energy saver"

    No mention of capped anywhere.

I've never knowinlgy asked to be on a capped rate, maybe it was the default when I joined or something. I Think maybe they've made a mistake, but I don't think I'll be complaining. I wonder when the cap runs out?

There has previously been an Online Energy Saver package but I was not aware of the prices being fixed, I will check that out for you and let you know.

    Is it a recent bill?
