I have just found a price comparison website that says if you take out 'Online Energy Saver 2' product with Scottish Power you will recieve a discount of £63 dual fuel discount for having gas and electric and for being an online customer, terms are you must input your meter reading every 90 days maximum.
I was amazed I am an online scottish power customer and I input my readings every 30 days! I don't receive the £63 discount only £13?
So I rang them, they said that this discount was a new offer intended to attract new customers , HOWEVER if existing customers request to be put onto the ONLINE ENERGY SAVER 2 PRODUCT they too will receive the discount. He said 'this offer is not widely advertised and is only open for a short time for new customers but if existing customers 'spot it' they will honour it.
So if anybody is an online customer ring now and request it and save yourselves another £50 discount per year.
The information about the product was found on 'Energy Helpline' cashback site.
Crafty so and so's!!!
ps if anyone isn't with them, they are very good, customer service is excellent and the ability to manage your account online is great, you can even prepare a graph to demonstrate your usage.
Try a comparison with this new offer they could well beatyour existing supplier!

Excellent post. I've just called them, and switched over getting the extra discount (saves an extra £50ish a year).
The guy on the phone said the deal was for new customers but if any existing customers asked about it, they can switch us over to the higher discounted package. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hi
There is no difference! its just under a different name so they can give the new customers extra discount. Mine said the same Online energy standard just ask for the different product and they just apply the discount to your account.Working hard to to pay off the mortgage within 5 years instead of 9 by considering every penny spent. I just called them....
They did uhmmm and ahh about it being only for new customers, but then said to me "I suppose you'll switch suppliers if we dont offer you this rate", to which I replied "I would definately think about it" ;-) )
So they said, "ok we'll switch you then !"
I do need to give them my current meter readings though, which I don't have to hand....
Guess I'll be calling them back later....0 -
it seems to be a dual fuel only account which is a shame0

I'm on a capped rate would this be affected?0

I think this only works for people currently on ONLINE ENERGY STANDARD as the capped rate is a different product and I expect the rates would be different but it might be worth asking.Working hard to to pay off the mortgage within 5 years instead of 9 by considering every penny spent. Thanks for that post "luva". I have just rang them and asked them to switch me over. LIke the others they were reluctant but the words "leave for another supplier" seem to inject new enthusiasm for the idea. they then agree instantly with the switch.

Any existing Dual Fuel customers that are with ScottishPower are entitled to go on the EnergySaver2 package, it does not matter if you are online at the moment or not. They will attempt to say it is only for new customers but as has been mentioned the old "I'll just leave" trick will work with no problems.
However if you are an existing Capped Price customer do not attempt to go to EnergySaver2 as the system will automatically drop your capped price and instead of saving you £60 it could cost you hundreds for the remainder of what would have been the rest of your capped price.
Lets just say I have some inside information0 -
I was lax... my capped price ran out in Dec'o5, as I discovered today when I pulled out my old paperwork!!
Do you get the £50 straightaway, or is it spread out over the bills over the year? Cos I'd like to take it, and then go to a cheaper supplier, like EDF at the moment.0
