Are you an online Scottish power customer?

  • I've just checked my bill and it says I'm on the 'Premier Plus' package, which is a 'no standing charge' option.

I've just worked out that over the last six months on my existing package, I have paid £247.33 for my gas and electric.

Based on the charges for the new tariff, I would pay £233.96 for my gas and electric.

So even though I would be paying a standing charge on a daily basis, with the lower rates and larger online discount, I would be paying less for my gas and electric on the new tariff.

Thanks to the orginal poster for pointing this out - I'll be giving Scottish Power a call on Monday morning!

    Just to add to confusion
I am on Premier plus capped online tariff and I have standing charges gas 17.810p per day an Elec 13.880p per day so now I am completely lost..

ps if anyone isn't with them, they are very good, customer service is excellent and the ability to manage your account online is great, you can even prepare a graph to demonstrate your usage.
Try a comparison with this new offer they could well beatyour existing supplier!

    Phew,

I thought this was gonna be another of those "this company is awful" threads (such as the many British Gas ones floating around), but thankfully I was mistaken. Only last Sunday did I switch from PowerGen to this Online Energy Saver 2 :) (It seems the prices for the "Online Service" and "Online Energy Saver 2" options are the same for me in Norweb)

Am now gonna have to go home and enter the EDF figures into my spreadsheet to check I haven't made the wrong choice, as I don't thing I spotted them when making my decisions...

I noticed that online saver2 rates are fixed until Jan 2008.

    No they're not.

It's the online discount that will apply until "at least" Jan 2008.

Thank you Quentin for the correction.

It is indeed the discount that is fixed.

    Time to make the call.
  • Many thanks. I have called and spoke to an extremly helpfull lady who went through the pros and cons of the switch. She said I would benefit from it, the only risk being the price is fixed until next January and so if prices dropped then my rate would stay the same. I said I would take the risk:eek: What's the chances of the prices dropping dramatically in the next 12 months?! She did also mention that this was advertised as an offer for new customers, but she had no problems letting me change.:T

I have only just read this thread.

I used USwitch and switched from EDF Energy to Scottish Power yesterday. It gave me a saving of £96 for using duel fuel so I signed up yesterday. Does that £96 include this discount you are all going on about or do I need to ring them up??

I'm in the process of switching to Scottish Power for dual fuel, as it came out top in the comparison tables. I think the discount is included in this comparison, but if I'm wrong then it's an added bonus on top of the projected savings!

    She wasn't that helpful.

    She gave you duff info.

The price isn't fixed at all - as posted above, it is the discount that will be fixed until at least Januaary 2008.
  • A wonderfully helpful lady on the sp helpline just now. I would stay with sp just for that!!

She re-iterated all the savings I am making by not going onto energy saver 2 by the way

I also reduced my monthly dd by £!0 as I deliberately overpaid.

Amazingly my online bill this month has been £10 cheaper than last month and I have had the heating on all day most days

    Thank you luvabargain
SP tried to convince me that the online saver 2 deal was for new customers only and that Uswitch had their details wrong. However, funnily enough, the man I spoke to went away for a few moments and then returned saying I'd been switched over. Brilliant.
