It's hard to really know what's going on here, I cannot picture in my head why this would cause a problem getting into your drive.
It sounds like the OP likes to drive in and reverse out onto the main road, therefore a car parked opposite my be difficult for them. OP, is that the case and why not reverse into your drive?
  • Thanks for all your replies. My neighbour is parking on the opposite side to my drive, when ever i can, i park my car on my side of the road & not on drive. The street is very narrow too. We have a car on the drive already which we would not of been able to get off the drive. I can't get a proper swing to go in/out of my drive when she is parked there. She has moved the car this morning but will park there again tonight. As for parking right on the end of a junction, will the police do something?? Thanks again

    We have a similar issue.

The entry to the driveway is quite narrow so you need to have the car able to go almost straight back into it. With a car on the otherside of the road you can't get the front end round enough to actually back in in one go resulting in a back forward motion that looks like a learner going for a 3 point turn.

Sounds like it might be easier to drive in forwards and reverse out. Not usually advisable as you won't have such a good view of the road as you come out, but could be an option on a quiet road with good lines of sight.

  • I don't have the swing to go in forwards & hardly a swing to go reverse in.

We do as and when we can but she comes home earlier than us!

Can't you park in the space while she's gone?

All in all this is the classic "well it's always been that way".

It's always a worry when moving to a new home, you find out the previous owner let the neighbours take the p1ss and it's a real pain to get things back to "normal".

My ex had a similar issue with her new neighbour, she said he could use her spare parking spot (actually her front garden) and he did in his little hatch back.
2 months later his work gives him:

The little hatchback moves in front of his house and he parks this monster truck in front of hers!
With that there, you couldn't use the front door and it was taller than her front windows!!

He even started coming around to demand her own visitors move their car so he could park, IN FRONT OF HER HOUSE!!!
AND even threatened to smash my car up if I didn't move!

It took nearly 3 months battling with the landlord to get the mess sorted out.

Replying since it was me you quoted :) It isn't as the road is very busy and the lines of sight aren't great, hence the need to back it in.

In our case it doesn't happen often, really only when they have visitors. Their drive is smack opposite ours so if she can't be bothered to park on her drive (clear) she just blocks it which causes us issues.

Visitors do the same despite the fact the drive runs the length of the house and garden so you can get three cars on it!

What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?

i then reply saying you have a garage and a drive yourself (on the other street) why not park there

The devil in me would love to suggest parking on her empty driveway lol

But somehow I doubt that is the correct way of dealing with the issue.
