Oh can't believe you're already cracking on with the christmas cakes! I don't even think I have any tins to store them in!!! I think I'm going to make three or four so I have some to give as impromptu gifts!0

I started my flavored vodka last night, I didn't want to buy more sweets, so I rummaged in my sweet/treat cupboard and found a packet of frosties, the hard chewie candy cleaned out an old pasta jar, put the sweets in, gave jar a good shake to brake them, added half btl of vodka, gave it a shake and left in drinks cupboard... my intentions is to shake as and when I remember, and leave until Christmas ... my bf is going on holiday soon, I'm going to ask him to bring me back a couple of cheap btls of voddy home so I can try more...Living Simply, not simply living.Weight Loss - 5b/55lb

Think I might have to have a dabble with an old box and some sticky tape:rotfl:
Made some more mincemeat today for our mince pies and planning to do the xmas puds and xmas cake next week.
I usually do one of each for my best friend too and didn't get around to it last year (or ours!) as DS2 was poorly after his op.
I have no freezer space, shameful really as I have 3but the garden's been so good this year god only knows where my turkey is going to go! Mind you if we get the early snow again I can always make an icecave

I had an idea for a present for the wannabe millionaire in the family - I'm sure we all know one; you know, the person who says, "When I'm a millionaire.....", "When I win the lottery........", "When I'm rich.....". I thought a piggy bank, a slice of Millionaire's shortbread, (home made and labelled of course) and, just before the big day, I'll put in a lottery ticket.
Thanks for all the ideas!
That is a fantastic idea!!!!Jane

Ok! I've checked every single link and none should be broken. ! I've added some new ones in - mainly food related , and a good list from the special occasions board!
There seems to be a distinct lack of veg threads - what veg do you all eat for christmas dinner?!?!
Oh yes, and i've pimped up the thread with some smilies - and it probably looks like one of those trees that has so many decorations, it's about to fall over - and it's in distinctly bad taste! But oh well - it was fun!A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

zippychick- christmas veg in this house is sprouts, carrots, parsnips, leeks usually from dads allotment and frozen peas cos everybody likes them and sometimes cauliflower cheese. are there any recipes for leeks in a creamy sauce out there? keep threatening to try something new with the same old veggies.
