I really, really like Jane too, it's so simple but strong, I'd definitley consider it if I were to have another girl.

    That's my DD's middle name:D:D

What, you've got a kid called Owain Glyndwr????:D
    LMAO
nope! Wales had more than one Prince!
    Rhodri Geraint
Hywel David (had to Anglicise the Dafydd as I wanted to honour my grandfather who was David)
Hywel was Prince Hywel Dda (Hywel the Good) while Rhodri was a warrior prince - very brave! The Geraint was another prince - but was also my Brothers best friend name, lovely kid and I loved the name!
my Daughters second name was Sian - the welsh for Jane - my OHs best friends sister plus his first loves welsh name!

I did have a cousin called Glyndwr though! er - my father was a Griffiths which means he was descended from Ap Gruffyd - another old warrior prince! I am proud of my Welsh heritage - my OH is Welsh born but of Cornish ancestry - he says he is Welsh but accepts that perhaps its the common Celtic heritage which makes him feel more at home in Wales - Whereas I adore Cornwall and feel very much at home there!

I love, love, love Rhodri, such a 'rugged' name iyswim, cute for tree climbing, muddy little boys but sooo manly.

My mam's brother was called Hywel (he was married to Aunty Grace!!) My mothers family was also originally from Cornwall, but moved to Wales sometime in the 1800's, originally tin miners, but moved when the tin mine industry started dying, so moved to N Wales to mine copper.
  • DH and I have been brainstorming all evening and we have finally decided the twins names. Florence Hope and Siena Grace.

We honeymooned in Italy and visited both of those beautiful places and have wonderful memories. We feel they are feminine and hopefully not over used.

:j:j:j Thats the hard bit over with, now all I have to do is get through the birth :D Then I can meet my two darling girls.

So pretty. My Dh's home is between Sienna and Florence so I might be biased. ;)

well done! OP! lovely names! I had an aunty Florence - and I adored her - she was a bit eccentric (actually a LOT eccentric) but she was the kindest, funniest person you could wish to meet.
  • That is such a beautiful name, especially when I noticed another poster mentioned it means 'star'. How is it pronounced?

Thank you. I read the name in a baby name book when I was pregnant with my second, who turned out to be boy. Still loved the name two years later when my daughter was born. It is pronounced SE-ren, similar to heron! People always comment on her name!
Proud to be dealing with my debts
