Windy weather, what are you all on about?? It's glorious here! (Only joking, it's grim as grim can be!)

Everytime I've posted in the last couple of days the post have disappeared , so I have been around keeping up with what's going on in your lives.
I have loads of salad in the fridge to eat tonight, but I really feel like something a bit more wintery & warming. It is *so* not salad weather.

Hugs to valentine, & dlb, hope you get the fence sorted soon, she sounds like a right old witch.

Nels - there's some local bylaw that prevents you from going to the Trafford centre & only visiting one shop, it's illegal! :D

Sorted out new house insurance this morning. It's the same monthly DD cost but I get £125 cashback via quidco, :T The only dilemma is, do I put it in a savings account to (part) pay for next years insurance like a good little MSE-er or go out & blow it on frivolous frippery???!!!

Gotta go, I can hear the WM beepnig to tell me it's finished, so time to put the DW on!

    Good Morning All

Valentine, sorry to hear about your Granny, I am thinking of you all.

anniestar, I am glad that you and your DH are feeling brighter today. PP, I know how unsettling it is to have nightmares, I hope the hospital visit went OK.

Thanks Queenie for the advice on freezing cake. I've just looked in the cake tin and there is only one slice of cherry cake left :D I will be making a ginger cake shortly so I will slice that and freeze it, so hopefully, it should last longer.

I am planning on cooking a mousakka for tonight's dinner, but I am not sure how I should prepare the aubergine. Do I just cut off the top (stalk) and bottom bit, and then just slice across so I get 'circular shaped' slices? Do you know if it's still necessary to cover the slices in salt first and then rinse off with water? Many thanks for any tips you can give me.

Yesterday I started knitting again, which I find very calming, but I am unsure as to what to knit! I have lots of scarves, and I don't think I have the skills to make a hat or gloves yet, I will have to have a look on the net to try and find inspiration.

Well, I'd better go, the BM has just finished, it's a seeded wholemeal loaf this time .....I think it will be toast for lunch :D

Congrats on those who have lost weight. I'm afraid that my diet plan has been put on the back burner ...I find it hard to diet when it's Winter, I always equate Winter with lots of hearty food and puddings.

    Hi Granny,

I was so touched by your kind message - my own immediate family has just been called to the hospital as my own remaining Granny is very, very sick and this looks like it might be it so having those kind words to read this morning was especially lovely. I'm off to try and get to the hospital in time (can't leave yet due to traffic) and meet the rest of my family by my Granny's bedside.

I will PM you again with my email address and maybe we can keep in touch like that.

P.S. Anyone else who wants to get out the knitting needles for me, feel free! I love knitting for other people's babies too.

I'm not a religious person, but I'd be so grateful if you could all spare a thought for my Granny today and hope that she pulls through.

    Love

    Valentine xxx

Hi Peony40. I slice my aubergenes as you say but there is no reason why you can't slice them lengthwise if the fit in your dish better. They say that these days you don't need to salt your aubergenes, I certainly don't and don't notice it :)

    I've been Money Tipped!
DD back from Drs and she has to find out if it is the fruit or the preservatives that she is allergic to. This has to be done with an anti histamine and a phone by her side! I have told her that she will have to do this at home with me by her side too!;) Maybe I am over reacting but this is scary. We tested an organic peeled pear today and she was ok so I guess next time it will be a pesticide/preservative covered pear but with the skin off and then the same with the skin on. Then on to apples etc. Dr said that if we don't find out the allergen then she may be exposed to it (unwittingly) too much and will then need an epi pen.

Weather is dreadful here and as it is recycling day and not everyone ties their bags up there are plastic bottles and Christmas cards all over the place! So will have to wait now till the rain stops and venture out there with a bin bag.

Will get a pan of hm soup bubbling away in a min.

Oh well back to bb and a :coffee:

(((Hugs))) to all those feeling poorly and down

    ((((Hugs)))) to Valentine
