Morning everyone
Valentine- thinking if you and your family
Anniestar - I'm glad your OH is feeling better today.
Penny Pincher - good luck at the hospital
It's wet and wild here, I live in the middle of a row of terraces and I can here the wind banging into the front of the house as I type. I love it, I've always had a strange fascination with the weather and ds seems to have picked it up too, he says he wants to be a storm chaser! Even the traffic lights were swaying in the breeze this morning.
10p listings day on Ebay today, so am going to take advantage of that. I need to make BBQ sauce for dinner tonight and give the house a tidy and clean. DS and I need to do his homework tonight - researching a famous person he chose Roald Dahl bless him, I hit a brick wall in thinking about who it could be and he comes up with a fantastic idea like that!
Thriftmonster - I have the same problem with stairs as you (ours is a tall thin 4 storey house ) and I treated myself to a hand vac in the sales which I use for the stairs and kitchen, it was well worth the £20 as lugging a hoover up 3 flight of stairs is no fun.
Have a good rest of the day everyone and I hope you manage to stay safe and warm.0 -
Good morning OS'ers :j
What a blustery day  Still it's a bit better than yesterday when we were flooded. I was at work in town, and was completely cut off from where DD's school/where we live, there wasn't another quick way round so I just had to wade through it
I have now lost 7lbs :j :j :j , although I didn't make it out for my jog this morning
Breakfast: Slimfast
Lunch: Salmon, Cous Cous and Roasted Veg
Dinner: Undecided - maybe chicken, salad and jkt pot
(((((hugs))))) to Valentine
Have a great day everyone - take care!Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)0 -
Definitely avoiding study today! I have an essay that desperately needs to be started & finished PDQ but yet i found the freezer needed sorting, the washing was desperate to be put in the machine, a loaf needed making etc etc.
It's cold, dark, wet and misserable today. I'm going to be stuck at home all day, which is good for making me study, only problem is that it is so dark and misserable i don't feel like studying.
What's the bet i decide i have to make some HM soup by lunch time? Anyone have any tips to avoid prevarication!!!

Crazychick - thanks for the compliment. I only every knew one grandparent (my Gran) and she died about 30 years ago, not long after we were married. I still miss her and wish she could have known my kids. My Dad died when DD1 just 1 year and he would have loved being a Great Grandad.
Anyway, hugs and kisses to all who need them. We too are having awful weather just now and had thunder and lightening about an hour ago!
Will keep an eye on what is going on and hope to get back to you all later.

Well, pulled the curtains, and one of my fence panels has disapeared!!!! cant see, it, so dont know where it has blown to, and im not going out in this to look for it!!! Also, my bread machine stopped working yesterday, its the second morphy richards fastbake that ive had, and its the same problem (the paddle has stopped turning) has anyone else had a prob with theirs? Means i will have to take it back (not a year old yet) but not sure when i will be in town again, and dont fancy making a special trip.
Hopefully my bad news wont be in threes, cant afford anything else to break!!!

Grab a cuppa, sit down, put some candles on (or table lamps to make it cosy) spend 10 minutes on your essay
Put the washing on
Spend 10 minutes on your essay
Put the BM on
Spend 10 minutes on your essay
Go and spend 20 minutes on your freezer
Another cuppa and 10 minutes on your essay
One hour gone
Prepare your hm soup
Spend 10 mins on your essay while the soup simmers
Check BM/wash machine/spend a further 10 mins on freezer if needed
Spend a further 10 mins on essay
Return to soup - eat slooooooooowly enjoying every last morsel
Put dishes in to soak
Spend 10 minutes on essay
Check BM/WM/wash dishes
Spend 10 mins on essay
Two hours or so gone
Give yourself a pat on the back, you have now achieved almost 11/2 hours work on your essay, made soup, made bread, done a wash load, washed your dishes and spent half hour on your freezer and all in less than 21/2 hours :T :T :T~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi everybody :hello:
Valentine hugs to you, I lost my grandma seven weeks ago and my granny less than 2 years ago, so know how you must be feeling. I hope and pray that she pulls through, and that if this is her time, that it's as comfortable as possible.
PP best of luck at the hospital today.
Well as eeeeevverybody has already mentioned, the weather this morning is not nice. And I'm another that overslept, though of course in my case I don't have any mischievous kids to blame it on- which meant that I ended up on the bus to work instead of walking (Doh! second time this week!) but at least that kept me protected from the weather.
Sausage casserole turned out yummmmmmy in the SC after all day on low, and portion number 2 will be my lunch today  Kitchen is however in a right state, covered in dirty dishes - eek! Will have to remedy that situation before bed this evening.
Am going out to an opera tonight at Covent Garden. I had a very pleasant surprise when I looked at my ticket - I almost always book standing-room tickets as they are such brilliant value for money (usually between £5 and £15 depending on the show) and I'd quite forgotten that for tonight's performance I actually booked a SEAT - there are only a tiny number of half-decent cheap seats at the Royal Opera House and it would appear that I've actually managed to book one of them! - which is great, woohoo! Won't have to stand all evening, won't have to change out of my high heeled boots
Had another nice music-related surprise too. If you look at my profile on MSE you'll see that I describe myself as a part-time opera critic, well that hasn't really been the case throughout last year as the online magazine I used to write for had ceased publication at the end of 2005, and I haven't done any reviews since. Anyway, for the last few months I have been talking to an American online opera magazine editor who wants me to write for him, and I'd said I would start in the New Year because I was tied up with moving house. Anyway, it looks like the first thing he wants me to review will be a concert which I was thinking of booking for anyway - which means I'll get a decent ticket for free - WOOHOO!!
Must be off now. Work calls  and I think I'm expecting a visit at work from a Freecycler to whom I offered my spare folding music-stand.

((Hugs)) and postive thought to anybody who needs them especially Valentine.
Slept really well with only DH disturbing me when he got up at 6am. Was expecting to get up with DD at about 8am but she slept throught till 9.45am. Not sure if shes coming down with something or if she was really tired from her 2 days at nursery and 1 day at Grandmas. She tucking into Shreddies at the moment so hopefully its the later.
Have a long list of things to do today so I'm going to post it on the Fly lady thread in a minute. I think I might deviate from my meal plan tonight and have egg and chips as its nice and simple.
Have a good day everyoneSorting my life out one day at a time0 -
