  • Morning to everyone! Am so glad I've managed to get back on again this morning, have found it is making much more productive - even though I write a similar list in my diary, if it's on here I feel like you can all check up on me!
Had a lovely day already - it's dbf's birthday and he loved his present from me, which is a big relief (it's a weekend in London and going to see Spamalot the Musical).

The weather here doesn't seem as bad as elsewhere - just looks dark and a bit wet. May get a shock when I venture out though!
Am about to shower etc then out to get bits for some afternoon tea (friends coming round). Only have 10 cornflake cakes so far  Was hoping to bake some bits but have a had a meeting re-arranged for 4 this afternoon and decided trying to fit baking in will stress me out. Was supposed to be going into one of my jobs this morning for 1.5hrs but it's been cancelled, so that gets me more time, which helps.
Then going into other work. Have lunch with work friends and then a meeting at 4, then home to sort tea out. Then just relaxing this evening :j

    Breakfast: cereal and raisins
Lunch: potato gratin (using last few scraps of potatoes and veg bought for Sunday's roast)
    Dinner:: making a chilli

Not really an OS day but will see what I can do.

Have a lovely day everyone; hope it's happy and productive xx

The wind is so unsettling. I feel sorry for people dealing with kiddies today as most of them seem to be super-sensitive to wind and it stops them settling. It certainly woke me up very early

I don`t have a heck of a lot to do today but am making the most of the next few months as dd is in the early stages of pregnancy and I am on stand by to help with childcare when she returns to work. I have got to tell a `secret` I have bought some sale items ie a few clothes and board books. I have hidden them though, as I feel a bit silly as it is so early. I am trying to keep my excitement under control until I get my cue from my dd and her dh. I expect it will be after the first trimester. I am determined not to offer unwanted advice etc and to be a good mum and granny. I do however have the cookie cutters in as well as the books. Heck I`ll have to organise a bigger secret cupboard at this rate.

This tenacious little person is gearing for a `fight` with ideal world re an item which was not as described. I spoke to their cs in India yesterday. The young lady was lovely but hadn`t a clue about sale of goods act etc. Why oh why can`t they all be as good as lakeland. They refunded me immediately and sent me a compementary item

I`ll be cleaning the bathrooms today ie whizzing round with my tray and cleaners and then I`ll be doing the ironing. I got 5 washes done yesterday and it`s all dry now. Not at all bad for indoors drying

    Be careful today

:hello: Goooooood Morning, fellow OS'ers :D:D:D

Yes, it is a tad breezy this morning ;):D I did wake up once to the wind, but it was no where near that same sound of the hurricane we had back in the '80's so I turned over and snuggled back under :o Good day to open the windows an inch and blow in fresh air around the house methinks  (which I shall do in just a moment in fact).

Need to get some more cooking/baking done today, I always get that urge when it's blowy and grey outside (weirdo!).

Went through the calendar and started filling in all our commitments for the next few months and realised that I've double booked myself and now have the dilema of making a decision which commitment to continue with and which one to postpone  Won't make a huge difference to my 5yr plan, but it will put a spanner in the works and I simply cannot fathom a way around it *sighs*

Need to go and have a chat with the nice people at the GPO and see how to have d12yo removed from my passport and get him a seperate one - will need to do d11yo at the same time with school trips coming up. Would have done it sooner, but I'd put my passport in a "safe" place and only found it again in December before we had our day trip to France. I'l wait for the wind to die down a bit before I drive anywhere though; I'm confident in my own driving, but with the winds blowing bits and bobs around all it takes is for someone to be spooked by an unexpected bit of something flying across their vision ....

Wishing you all a safe, yet thrifty Thurdays; ((hugs)) for all those in need of them. :D:D:D

    Hi Granny,

I was so touched by your kind message - my own immediate family has just been called to the hospital as my own remaining Granny is very, very sick and this looks like it might be it so having those kind words to read this morning was especially lovely. I'm off to try and get to the hospital in time (can't leave yet due to traffic) and meet the rest of my family by my Granny's bedside.

I will PM you again with my email address and maybe we can keep in touch like that.

P.S. Anyone else who wants to get out the knitting needles for me, feel free! I love knitting for other people's babies too.

I'm not a religious person, but I'd be so grateful if you could all spare a thought for my Granny today and hope that she pulls through.

    Love

    Valentine xxx

    morning all
my thoughts are with your granny valentine, and anyone else who might need one.
today is shopping day may even save a little on petrol if i get blown along the road a bit lol.
we have been successfully living out of the freezer and cupboards so far but now things are starting to look slightly grim in there.
got to clean the fish tank too as the filter is a little clogged (so my dh informs me), got all my ironing done yesterday so its just a quick swish as far as housework goes today.
got to go to the post office and post a book i sold on amazon yesterday and i also have to put the finishing touches to our latest family budget.
so i better get off and try and rescue the roll of brown paper from its safe place so i can wrap and post that book
take care everyone and have a great day
    regards

Valentine, my thoughts and prayers are with you. You take care of yourself at this difficult time. Hugs and love to all who need them. DH a bit happier today, which makes me fel a bit brighter. I want to thank you all so much for your love and support I cried for ages yesterday after reading the posts on here, I felt TONS better afterwards. Again, thank you. i have no close friends and get tremendosly(sp) lonely particularly with DH being so unhappy and the situation with net door. Havent been out to pick up the stuff from the path as its FAR too windy. Only Fergal & Rupert out at hte mo all other cats in(although not particularly happy with me as I am trying to save a bit of money and am not putting fire on till I can't stand the cold anymore-no CH here!)By hte way pennineman LOVE the pic of B I G cat. Beautiful. I have a bit of a headache and am going to have a drink and something to eat(couldn't face eating till tea ysterday)Please stay warm safe and well today its awful out there. Again many, many thanks. I dont feel so isolated and that makes me feel very much more hopeful. God bless and again, thank you.
