I had a cat called Archie, he was named because of his peachy colour, a flame point persian. so that doesnt do it for me, therefore I voted Connor, although cant say I like any of the options that much.

MIL's dog is called Connor, it's an evil little sh......

When I had my first, I'd always had Joseph (Joe) in my head as my boys name. He's 14 now and I still love it, and although it's not an unusual name, he's always been the only one in his class at school.

Having the next two, I didn't have a boys name for them, as Joseph is the only boys name I really love. I did suggest to OH we could have Joe2. ;)

The girls were more difficult. DD1 got a name that at the time, I didn't know any others. By time she started school, there were 3 in her class, 2 in the other class in her year.

DD2 got a very old fashioned name. Mother and MIL hated it at first, but they're ok now, and it really suits DD.
Since she was born, i've seen/heard of another couple, but nobody close.

Ethan is a little too common (or popular, I should say!) for my liking. I had an unusual name but have had friends who are one of 5-10 Emilys/Beckys in one year and it drove them crazy to be Becky 3 or referred to by surname.

There were 4 Rebeccas in my primary school class, and 5 Victorias at secondary school.

  • Why on earth do people do that, why show yourself up by making it look like you can't even spell the name you've chosen/made up :wall:

    Sometimes, perhaps, they were drunk?

My great-aunt was supposed to have "Ada" as a middle name. Her father got trollyed at the pub "wetting the baby's head" on the way to the Registrar. She went through life with the middle name "Adair".....

    Jack? Why Jack?

My eldest is 15 and is called Jack. He was named after his Great Grandfather, so it's not like it's a newish Chavvy name.

It's new in the sense of an actual name - the vast majority of historical "Jack"s were actually called "John".

    I have voted for Ethan.

I love Rowan, think it's a lovely name. What about Riley, Aidan or Reuben?

I've met 3 people call Rowan. All girls!

I know a Rowan, she is about 30. I would have said it was a girls name.

Yes I know that, but my Grandad was 'Jack' and he would be 100 next year if he was still alive, so it's not a new name to me or my family at all.

When I did have my son, I did get a card saying Congrats on the birth of John, so I had to explain that his name really was JACK! :rotfl:

  • Probably connor. I dont like ethan much, archie over done. Rogan Josh and there is a girl in my DD class called Rogan, I dont really think of it as a boys name. Rylan isnt a name and sounds weird.

When I was expecting my first son I had a lot of names. Saul (love this still and slightly regret not calling either of my boys it!) Ellis, Damien, Leif or Laithe, Charlie and Mason. He became Mason. Second son I was going twith Noah for long enough. Then River (dont ask) but he became Fraser.
