Whitby or Harrogate?

Considering a trip up to either Whitby or Harrogate this weekend. Just site seeing, spend some time in a cafe, eat some good food and want to have a lazy drive up and back. Is there much to do in either of these places? And where would you rather go? Grateful for any tips x

Whitby for me, especially if the weather is ok. A mooch round the abbey ruins, great views of the harbour, a boat ride, and little independent shops to potter round and Sandsend up the road if you fancy a bit of beach combing. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Of the two I'd say Whitby ^^Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

Both good. Whitby if the weathers good.
Harrogate full of rich folk so expect shopping to be a 3 or 4 figure sum.0 -
harrogate has bettys and lots of places to eat.
Much easier to park than Whitby!
Depends on the weather and probably how long a drive you want. Harrogate close to motorways- Whitby a bit of a trek (less so if coming from North).
Whitby doesnt have great places to eat- magpie is good but long queues. Other than that its quite overpriced and they fry chips in veg oil so yuecky.June challenge £100 a day £3161.63 plus £350 vouchers plus £108.37 food/shopping saving

Are you wanting to stay?
Whitby is mainly B&Bs. Some country hotels nearby.
