Take another look at the tutorial, and if that doesn't help - look at the MSE A-Z on linksHi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hi squeaky, it was not being in advanced view that caused me the problem. I still wouldn't know how to do it if advanced view didn't work though. But *ahem* I couldn't find the tutorial until Pink pointed me to it.0

Morning all! Woke up early, so a quiet house and I thought I'd start on this.
Squeaky and Pink, I'm adding all threads that are to do with *Menu Planning* onto the list that you kindly put into my post. Can you confirm that this is correct?
I'm starting on page 500 (20 per page) is this far back enough?
So, just to show off at this time in the morning, I've done a *Smarty Pants* link (ooh, look at me.....:rolleyes: ) Followed Squeaky's instructions, but it looks a bit odd
The instructions ask for *the name of the thread* then you give it another name
The link's fine, can you take a look some time and advise how it should be.
Many thanks, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Penny, it looks great. Thank you. Yes, I think you've started far enough back.
Is it the 'organising packed lunches' link you're not sure about? The others look fine.
If so, all you need to do is click here for the link. Save it. Type in your title on your post, highlight it and click on the 'insert link button at the top of the text box. Paste the thread details into the box that comes up and confirm it.
You should get the thread title coming up as your link rather than having the thread title twice.
Is that what you meant?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
Just had a look to see how you got on, Penny. It looks good!May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0

Oops! I didn't want to make it a sticky because we have too many already and we get our wrists slapped if we go over the recommended number for too long
For those of you who haven't noticed (or read) it yet - it's linked from post #2 in the volunteer thread, and the quick link is here :-
How to write an index
There's also a post in the index author's sticky about making yourself a bookmars (favourites) folder and a suggestion on which threads you might like to keep in there.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Hi
I am doing the recipe index, which is already seperated into
starters
main
desserts etc
it is very long as there are loads of wonderful recipes, feel like ive put on weight just sitting reading them! hehe. Anyhoo I was thinking of subdividing again, like for main going into chicken, beef, vegetable, pasta/rice.
What do you think?? which way would you prefer, or would it be a nightmare to organise.0 -
That sounds good, clu.
It makes sense to subdivide it again as it's a huge index. If you find it becomes too complicated the way you've done it, you can always change it later.May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -

That was the very first index I did and, with the exception of the MEGA, the biggest one too.
By all means sort it out any way you like - it certainly needs it!
