If the banding is still there, send it back. Sounds like the screen has been replaced from what he says, though

    Thanks yet again !

Problem with that is that the guy keeps stating it's 'within the guidelines' and asks me to obtain an engineers report ! :/ It's still within guarantee so I don't see why I should plus it proved unsuccesful. If he starts again I'll be ringing Knowhow directly or start nit picking and complaining about the other faults i.e the buzzing which I learnt to live with.

    Agree ? :D

It's the first time I've had a company totally disregard what I've said, unless they see the fault for themselves they call me a liar ! Every other company most of time just takes your word for it and replaces the product.

Hope your right anyway, I'll find out on Tuesday I guess.

Thanks again, you must be sick of this thread now ? Lol
  • The saga continues ! Getting really frustrated with this now. I've just finished typing an email to the guy handling the case, I really hope he come up with a suitable solution.

So the TV came back today with a new screen and new bezel, now the bezel is pristine so no complaint there however the screen is not. As the picture below shows there's over a dozen scratched in the bottom right hand corner of the screen. These are worst then the last scratch. Quality control much !?

Not only that but the TV now emits a high pitched buzz/squeal at a low volume. The TV is used in a bedroom so it's often at a low volume, it's extremly annoying.

Image rentention is ridiculous, 30 Secs of the Sky guide and there's an after image for about 5-10Mins.

The banding is a lot less prevalent but it still exisits somewhat.

Finally whites are still anything but !

I actually give up with knowhow, they prooved themselves to be completly useless so far. What's most annoying is the fact the TV has come back in a worse condition then it originally left in.

    Where do I stand now ? :/

  • Well this is getting beyond a joke now ! I belive I'm been ignored by the guy originally handling the case so I called up 'knowhow' today to see what they had to say. After getting past pillar to post I came away with an uplift date of the 24/09/11 which is tomorrow. He took notes and emailed the guy again on my behalf.

A write off was mentioned but it would seem I was mislead on that front. I'm really not looking forward to getting this TV back again, what's it going to come back like now ?

Really at a loose end now and getting sick to death of it all. If I went into the store I bought it from and explained it all do you think they would do anything.

    Thanks in advance.
  • An uplift (in my book) means the retailer is now asking the manufacturer for a new TV for you. Once they have the uplift number they can issue you with a new TV.

    Good luck.
  • An uplift simply means thay are sending guys to pick up your TV,was your tv well packaged when returned ? do you rekon it was scratched before it left them,or was in done on the way back. Your are definately now due a refund/replacement due to this. Ex Currys T.V Engineer( best ever career move the day I left, now working in Subsea Electronics)

Hi, the TV was packaged better then it was last time but still hardly efficient for a delicate plasma. It was wrapped in bubble wrap with the knowhow protective cover over that.

I very much imagine the damage was done during the screen replacement at the workshop, the damage appears to be under the glass from what I can see. It also came back with more faults which was equally unimpressive.

Well if that were the case I'd be extremely happy but I just don't think it will be. They took notes yesterday but they only recognised this as the second repair as the gap from the original one was too big, that delay was down to them though. I also mentioned writing it off but that's when the tech guy I was speaking to became rude and quite frankly useless. He said it's only something they can authorise in the workshop.

The TV has gone again now so I made sure to stick a note on the back detailing he faults and damage, I highlighted the damage with tape. I think that'll be treated one of two ways though as my choice of wording may come across wrong to them. I mentioned I'd done my research and wasn't impressed, I asked if they will get it right. Lol.

The guy handling the case is on holiday now so I'm gonna have to ring for updates, he did pass on an email address so I'll try that first.

    Thanks again.
