It's 28 days, not working days. Although I guess it is technically, as the engineers work Saturdays and Sundays too!

So they're replacing the glass because of the damage they caused, the PCB to try and fix the glasses issue I assume (which won't work). What are they doing about the banding? They should be replacing the plasma panel like they did with mine and failed.

Correct on point number one, not sure about number two. All he said was is they're replacing the PCB as a goodwill gesture, I assume they think this will solve the banding/pink whites issue. Strange isn't that they've chosen to replace the bezel (assuming they will), glass, filter and PCN rather then just replace the TV. Guess I should just hope the parts take forever to arrive. Lol

What was funny btw was the fact the guy said to me on the phone 'the bezel wasn't damaged was it ?' !? I mean how many times do I need to mention everything, they have it in Black & White.

Guessing it was the fact I provided ample descriptions/photo/damaged marked out that's progressed things this time.

Thought that was the case with regards to the 28 Days. I've sent him an email stating I expect a replcement by the 30th Sept if the TV repair still hasn't progressed.
  • Apologies for the typos in that last post, iPhone's, it's a love/hate thing.

I'm in exactly the same position as you, I like my C680 ! I'd be quite happy with it if the banding/pink whites issues were fixed. I'll be straight on their case if the TV comes back with the same problems, I actually have a feeling it'll come back with the same bezel too !

I've already stated that'll I'll be looking at a 51D6900 as a replacement so we'll see what happened there if I ever end up going down that route. Warranty runs out on the 7th Oct I discovered today so it's a good job things are moving along.

A question for Esqui, is there any kind of guarantee on repair's or replacements ? i.e the PCB replacement sorts the problems but then further down the line the faults appear again ? With replacement is there any guarantee, if so how long ?

    Thanks ! :D
  • I am surprised they have agreed to replace the screen as a new one is usually more than the cost of a TV. Watch out and make sure you havent been given a recon screen. Currys should be pushing Samsung for an exchange TBH.

Repairs have a three-month guarantee (or the remained of the usual one). A replacement would be done either as a refund of your old TV and a sale of the new one, or by sending you a voucher to buy a new one. In both cases, you start right over with regards to guarantees - i.e. When you get the replacement, you are back at day one.

  • Thank you very much Esqui ! :D

I bought the TV as a package, TV/Blu-Ray Player/2x Glasses, now I don't have the Blu-Ray player anymore, would they request any of these back if they replaced the TV ?

    Thanks.

Shouldn't do. If I was doing the replacement, I could 'swap out' one of the items (the TV) from the package, and choose another TV. I'd also swap the glasses given that they'd be no use with the D-series 3DTVs.

If they were going to refund the whole package and sell out a new one, then they might. But I don't see why that would be needed.

More then helpful, thanks again ! :D

Got an email today updating me stating that a Full House & Screen had been ordered, they are now waiting on parts.
  • So got a Txt today stating that the repair had been completed and that I should have the TV back Tuesday. Emailed them to ask what had been changed, got this back.

    Dear Mr X,

    Thanks for the email,

I can see with the notes on our repair system that there has been a Plasma Screen including PDP Glass Filter and the Front Cabinet have been replaced and the unit has been tested and is working with in the product specification guidelines

I hope this update is satisfactory.

Now does that mean they've changed the panel per se ? Sounds like it was just a case of replacing the glass to me ? I don't like the last line 'tested and is working with in the product specification guidelines' ! That's the line I got before it went back for the damage repairing, they reckon the banding is 'within guidelines'.

So if it comes back with the banding where do I stand, am I entitled to send it back until it's picked up and repaired ?

Tbf it may come back 'fixed' but for some reason I doubt that.

    Thanks in advance !

If the banding is still there, send it back. Sounds like the screen has been replaced from what he says, though
