Pursue with Currys.
Why an earth not, is it not their due care and attention to look after the customer when they get ignored otherwise ? In past experience taking it straight to the top gets results, on this occasion that's faltered. Otherwise yes I am pretty keen when it comes to getting results, why not when you've handed over your hard earned cash ?
Anyways I appreciate your comments, I will carry on persuing Currys but they seem to be ignoring the matter at the moment, even the guy that has been hadling the case.
I made a big deal about the fact it came back unfixed even though it came with paper work saying otherwise. False advertising ? I think so. Is it not a big deal it came back damaged anyway ?
Do you think Trading Standards will offer any advise ?
Thanks again guys !0 -
I disagree.
When my tv developed a fault, I signed up with samsung online and reported the fault online.
They then sent somebody along from the nearest authorised repairers, which was dbs that was posted earlier, and the tv was fixed in my home.
OP, I would suggest signing up with Samsung online, if you haven't already done so. Then just follow the steps to get your tv repaired by them.
Thanks, just signed up at the main Samsung UK site. Have registered the TV and submitted an enquiry against it. How long do they usually take to reply ?
Thanks again.0 -

Trading standards will only tell you what you have already been told by Currys, get an engineers report. As the TV is over 6 months old, the unus is now on you to prove the fault.0 -
I had the C680 model and had problems with IR and banding, I'd be pushing the lines and banding issue more than the glasses. TV's should not have these issues, they're faults and should be repaired. I had 3 different TV's and a panel change and there was still banding, it's a common fault with some models. In the end they (Comet) got sick of sending engineers and gave me a refund. I got the C7000 and it's much much better.
Keep persisting, won't curry's send an engineer so you can point out the problems at home? (White background shows it up perfectly)
You'll get some good advice on the AV forums too, good luck.
Problem is they didn't find the faults when they had the TV with them. The pictures I'd sent showing the faults perfectly were disregarded, I'm sure an engineer would be able to conclude the TV is faulty just looking at the pictures.
Not sure what to do now tbh, I might try going through the standard channels through Currys (I.e just ring customer service) and see if I can get a repair that way.
Getting an engineers report is easier said then done, I have no reply from the company in York yet and there doesn't seem to be many other around here.0 -

It was all done very quickly. This was over a year ago though, so I can't remember exactly.
I reported the fault online and I would say within a week at most, the repairer contacted me and sent somebody to my home and the fault was fixed.0 -

When you mention banding, are you talking about colour banding (which can be sorted with setting the tv up right) or vertical banding?0 -
Right got through to DBS. They have said they can carry out the repair on behalf of Samsung provided I can provide a 'proof of purchase' which is not a problem. So is this the best route to take as Currys seem to be ignoring me ?

Personally I wouldn't be bothered who repaired it, as long as it was repaired.
Plus DBS are an approved repairer of Samsung, so IMO you aren't going to get anyone better to repair it. Plus they should fix it in your home, if possible.
However, I would be complaining to Currys about your experience with them so far. It is Currys responsibility to sort it out, (but I am just advising with the easiest and quickest option to get your tv sorted).
At least if DBS come you will either get your tv fixed, or the report you need to take back to Currys.0 -
Right, just waiting for DBS to get to me on how they're going to carry out the repair. I have also mow been promised a phonecall from the guy that's handling the case at Currys @ 7PM this eve, I won't hold my breath for good news. Carl Nicklin has also got back to me and has advised that the Audio Visual Support team will get in contact with me directly !
Just a like a buses, they all come at once ! Lol.0
