Am I naive or ..........

You were unhappy to give out your own address but were happy to give out your works address details...the people who pay you...why? It was a personal thing why did you involve your employer?
I don't see what harm can come off this. I address parcels from Amazon or ebay to my work address all the time because I'm present there all day. This is quite similar. "..the people who pay you...", you're blowing it out of proportion and I can't see why.0 -
And at the end of the day, you only gave away £5 to make someone very happy, whether her needs were genuine or not.
When you go to work and spend 37.5 hours a week or more working to take home £x amount. Just remember that this girl can take home:
20 people - £100
50 people - £250
100 people - £500
200 people - £1000
So if you work 37.5 hours a week and take home £1000 a month, the girl in the car park could have taken that home in one day after hitting a couple of supermarkets.0 -

Believe you me, I worked this out hours ago! I take pride that mines a legitimate job though and I work bloody hard for my money! If she was spinning a yarn, shame on her and one day she'll get her just rewards!0 -
Can't blame you to be honest though as it's not easy to tell somebody to sling it when they're right in front of you.
I had something similar happen a few years ago but I willingly gave him the money because of his honesty. Instead of the usual blah blah blah that they give you he just told me that he wanted to go to the Notting Hill Carnival but couldn't afford it so he was begging for change to get there.0 -
I don't think you were being naive, no. I think people are far too cynical nowadays and need to start trusting people a little more. You did a really good thing and needless of the other persons aims, you will be rewarded for that someway!

If only there were more people like you out there, I know if I was caught in a similar situation I would do the same as I was brought up to treat people the way I wished to be treated0 -
She could havegone to the petrol station at Tesco and filled out a form for non-payment of fuel. A couple of quid would have got her to her nan's and back and she would have owed Tesco, not you.
Guess you live and learn.Science adjusts its views based on what's observed.
Faith is the denial of observation, so that belief can be preserved.
