uhhmmm, Hustle? Nope, I've never watched it but maybe I should!

NCISROCKS - I haven't been in touch at all yet - are you saying I shouldn't give my work address?

I'm now thinking I'll put it down to experience and not contact the person at all BUT I still hope that if I ever feel someone is genuine I would try and help to the best of my ability! I really don't want to become so untrusting that my answer is always no!

p.s. I'm also going to watch a few tv programmes such as hustle!!!

Not if you value your job.

You did a kind thing but whether you see the five again I don't know. I've only once locked myself out of my house and left my wallet inside and was going to work so needed money for the bus. I asked a neighbour if he could lend me a small amount of money for a bus and ended up giving me a five and a lift into town so ive been there myself
  • NCISROCKS - I cant see how this could jeopadise my job!! Can you explain what you mean please?

To be honest, I'm not worried at all about my fiver and I've decided not to pursue it in any way, as I just want to think that if either of my kids were in trouble someone would help without question! I like the thought that Sagz said - Karma will sort it out if it wasn't true!

OP i think it was nice of you too help out if only more people were as kind as you.

which is why you live in lalaland.
  • You were unhappy to give out your own address but were happy to give out your works address details...the people who pay you...why? It was a personal thing why did you involve your employer?

Pay no attention Mandrose, I'd like to see how people saying you are too soft would feel if they were to get into a similar situation as that girl you helped. Perhaps they'd curse people for being so cynical! :D

May I suggest you simply text her as ask her if she got home ok the other day and don't mention the money part. If she was indeed honest, she will do the right thing and text you back and explain about returning the money. If she wasn't, someday her conscience is going to !!!!! her. And at the end of the day, you only gave away £5 to make someone very happy, whether her needs were genuine or not.
  • I wonder why she hasn't texted you yet?

uhhmm, I didn't give out my works address, although I can't see how that would be a problem? Its a large organisation that doesn't mind personal mail being delivered and that would have been the only reason to give it! Not quite the same as giving out personal details in my opinion as I don't have security guards manning my house 24/7!
