Just had a call of dan. Apparently the new tarrifs which im on are already on the new data charges when ive been told over and over gain that on my plan its £5 for 500mb

Odd as this clashes with what they have written on their website at https://www.vodafone.co.uk/yourbill

This is actually my main bone of contention with them. Sure, I may not have used the full 500MB last month but the fact is I could have. Otherwise they could increase my line rental and halve the number of minutes included. It's pretty much the same thing.

    Edit - corrected link

Sorry, the link had .ul instead of .uk. Corrected it now. Click on it then select calls and texts.

I go over my allowence every month but if im on the new call charges will I already be on the new out of bundle charges? Im not sure on that or how to find out

Go back through your bills and find a month you went over your data allowance by more than 250mb? If you used 300mb over one month, then if you were only charged £5 then you're on the old charges, if you were charged £10 then you're already on the new ones?

    Or am I missing something?

Vodafone don't seem to want to discuss this issue. I've been trying to sort this for over a week now with no success! The eForums staff are taking their time emailing me back and the phone staff hang up as soon as they hear that the query is about these changes. I'm giving it another week before I take them to the ombudsman, then court if need be.

    Vodafone have;
    • Failed to supply me with new copies of my contract when changes have been made, I've upgraded my handset or taken out another line. The only copy I have was given to me by Phones4U three (3) years ago!
    • Failed to notify me of changes to my data plan on four (4) separate occasions. I started off with ' Unlimited Internet' and got changed to a 500MB FUP without being told. I then got offered an iPhone tariff as I had purchased an iPhone. This changed me over to a 1GB limit. I then upgraded to "the same contract terms, but on a 24 month, £25/month contract" where the data allowance was 500MB rather than 1GB. And finally, they have changed my 'out of allowance' charges from £5/500MB to £5/250MB and failed to notify me about these changes (I found out from a friend). In the months where I use data heavily these changes could amount to as much as £10 extra over and above what I would have spent with the old charges.

Personally I cannot see how they aren't in some way in breach of contract somewhere along the line. I've put up with far too much messing about over the last 3 years and now I want out. These latest changes have a bigger financial impact than any previous ones, and to be frank I find them ridiculous in a time when Three are offering unlimited, uncapped and unrestricted data use to it's customers.

I'm hoping their customer services representatives will at some point decide to deal with this problem rather than leaving days between (unhelpful) emails. If not I have a few industry contacts I can call upon, and failing that it's the Ombudsman, then the Courts.

Satchef - Email the CEO Guy Laurence (look at the forum for his address). It will most likely not get you a solution but may get you a deadlock letter which you can then use to start things off with an ombudsman complaint

My boyfriend has been on the phone with vodafone all day trying to get this sorted. They have agreed to end his contract without termination fee but they are insisting that he has to return the phone. This is BS right?

He is about 16 months into a 24 month contract.
  • There is another way to prove a 10% increase for those of us who never go above our air time or data allowance, thus allowing you to concel under section 11 b

you may have to do your own calculations this is based on a 300 minute £36 contract.

first use 295 minutes of your air time allowance.

then make 20 x 5 second phone call to a land line number must be 01 or 02

under your original contract you would have been charged for 100 seconds.

this means you would have stayed within your £36 contract at 297 minutes.

However now vodafone is changing a minimum 1 minute conection charge you will have used 20 minutes of your air time thus putting you 15 minutes above your contract and charged £0.35 x 15 = £5.25 = 14.5% increase.

your argument is under your original contract you would have remained within your contracted allowance like every other month however due to the changes you are now being charged.

they cannot argue this point as maths is a universal constant.
they cannot argue this point as every months air time usage is different.

i have just tried to open a case with the ombudsman but because vodafone will not give you a dead lock letter it looks like we will all have to wait 8 weeks but we will get all our money back and back dated to 11/10/11 we will all have to be patient.

Vodafone charge by the second when you're within your inclusive minutes, its when you are out of your bundled minutes that they charge a minimum of 1 minute so you would need to use up all of your minutes for that to work.

Is the Vodafone change to per min with the recent changes ?

Buscape, note the promotion costs on your link.....

is this to keep you under the % until Jan to avoid disconnections ?

Seems Voda may be shady and scamming to me (well more than usual at least!)
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)
