As i am away on holiday I cant partake until tommorow. Do you think my OH would mind stopping at some Tesco's on the way home this evening after a 9 hour drive across France and a 3 hour drive home from Folkestone? Maybe he will stop at the 24 hour store at S%%%stice where I got a fab DTD on a pressure cooker a few week ago.0

The sale section has been taken down at s#lough. Only going I could see was the 13,pound mp4 players and the 1 pound antennaTB0

I must be a really selfish b*tch cos it would not enter my head to buy a laptop for someone I don't know. Seriously I'd flog it:eek:
I must be a really nice personcos any few christmas's ago there was a post on netmums asking if anyone knew where she could get a Wii (they were like gold dust and out of stock everywhere)as her boy wanted one for xmas. Well a few days later I was in Tesco when an announcement came over the tannoy that they had had a delivery of Wii 's and to go to the electrical department. Well I went and bought one, then when home searched netmums noticeboard for the ladies post and got in contact with her and her lad had a Wii for xmas.

Yeah i had similar incidents with the camera stock, being told by the tech managress that they had no cameras instock at all. Best to complain and alert management to their dodgy practices. On another note, I have found very little bargains at the Bellshill store, even the clearance stock is only 10% off.
Hi did as you suggested and logged a complaint maybe they will stop this happening0 -
To be honest I emailed Tesco about staff keeping laptops back and got a call this morning that basically went ' there is no specific policy on employees buying stock' so in other words they had done nothing wrong and it was up to the managers. I also queried the Tom Tom vouchers as they would not honour ours against a reduced Tom Tom and the answer was they should not be used for anything but new fullprice stock and they are consulting with the marketing dept to review the wording on the vouchers to make this clearer and putting signs up in the stores.
Ah well at least I tried:o0 -

I am going to do the same as I also visited the B3ll5h1ll store to be told by a smug assistant that all the bargains had gone. They went on to list all the "goodies" they had managed to purchase for a knockdown price adding that their family and friends would be having a marvellous Christmas this year.
My husband works in a job where safeguards are put in place to ensure that employees have no favour or advantage and Mr T would be well advised to do likewise imho. It seems that they are withholding stock "in the back" so they can cherry-pick what they want first and the customers (who are the very ones keeping the company in business after all) are left with the unwanted bits and pieces. Yes, it's human nature to want to use your position in a company to get in first but I do think this whole sale of end of line goods had been handled in a very unprofessional way and Mr T has not come across in a good light thanks to some of the staff's attitudes and bragging.

Guys I have to say that all this complaining is worrying me. Tesco made the decision to reduce stock to stupid prices in an attempt to get rid of it. Ok so the staff have had some stock. To be fair how many of you can actually say that you wouldn't have done the same. If I had been staff I would have jumped at the chance of a free laptop! Hands on hearts, would you all have said no to these offers if you were staff?
But my point is that all this complaining may just make Tesco think twice about reducing stuff to these levels again. They don't want the hassle. They could just have easy carted all the old stock off to a warehouse to be sold on to outlets.
I've worked hard and scoured a lot of stores and yes I've had some great bargains, the newest being a Karcher vacuum for £15... showing at £149 on amazon. I'm so thankful to have these things. There has been some fantastic items if you are prepared to put the time in.
Lets just be happy to have had this little bargain window and be happy with what we got. If everyone starts complaining then it will be the last time Tesco does this i'm sure.0 -
All this complaining about staff bagging the bargains is just sour grapes. So you didnt get a laptop, camera, or whatever else you were after, neither did I. But I arent complaining. It's just a case of some you win, some you lose.
I seriously dont blame the management for letting the staff get there 1st. At least staff got them and not ebayers.
Perks of the job, i once worked for argos and in the interview i was asked why I wanted to work there, my answer, I need the money and the staff discount wouldn't go amiss either. (i got the job)
Personnaly if i was tesco manageent, i too would have given them to staff. My way of saying thanks for all the extra hours you've put in, meaning you've missed that special time with your kids / family, for working twice as hard for single pay when we were short staffed, for taking all the abuse from customers. Nothing beats a bit of staff morale boosting.:TIs thankful to those who have shared their :T
:T fortune with those less fortunate :T
:T than themselves - you know who you are!:T0 -
If I could just refer you to the last sentence of my post you will see that it is the attitude and bragging of some of the staff that I feel has been letting Tesco down - not the fact that some staff are getting some bargains. Sour grapes it is not - it is disappointment in the way it has been dealt with.0

In all honesty when I did read your post which i've quoted above, I thought it was nice that the person said their family would have a marvellous Christmas this year. Isn't that what we all want?
I'm not picking on your post Helly, its just one of many that will make Tesco think twice about doing this again.0
