Just a store update for anyone interested: B*r H*ll (Cambridgeshire) had lots of Tresemme hair straighteners reduced from around £62 to £21 (or poss £24, can't remember!). They were in the health and beauty section, in two different areas.
They also had Morphy Richards double washable heated underblankets for £2.50 - only two allowed per customer!
The people in my life: Betty Crocker, Mr. T and Gordon (of Gordon's gin) :T

I ended up with 4 of the HP touchpads, never thought I'd get my orders honoured but it was great as my Mse friends didn't get theirs so we shared them out at cost. My DH panicked though when he saw them arrive from different online stores. :rotfl:
Too many children, too little time!!!

Staff are very aware about the discounts. This activity has been going on for almost a month now. We have been receiving weekly update via workplan (our internal communications system) detailing the reductions by individual lines and each report is store specific detailing the reductions on the stock we've got. From what I've heard from friends at most stores there have been free for alls with managers who wouldn't normally be seen dead on Non Food rifling through stock with PDAs trying to find reduced stock. I've always tried to maintain a balance so its fair for everyone, I'll put the stock out and who gets it first gets it first. However I seem to be in the minority

If you look o the toy thread everyone is asking for things and swapping things, I personally have been looking out for things that other people have been asking for. The point of this forum is money saving and personally I have no problem with people asking for things.

I don't want to start an argument so I'll leave it at that, If you don't agree with some of the posts, ignore them and carry on.

On the toy thread are the things people are asking for things that cost hundreds of pounds and that most people would want, (not just people with kids, but everyone), if given a chance?

If everybody who'd like a laptop posted on here to ask for one we'd have 50+ pages of people asking for laptops. And to ask for two laptops and a camcorder...!

I also look out for things others want, and I bought a Lumie bodyclock to offer on here a couple of days ago. I still think people asking (multiple times) for multiple items like laptops and camcorders is rude.

I have ignored a lot of asking posts because most people just ask once, or for a smallish item, and leave it and I don't have a problem at all with that. But some people just take the juice.

And in response to the 'anger management' post, yes, I am angry. I recently left freecycle because of people wanting iphones and laptops and now I find that some people think it's ok to post over and over asking for hundreds of pounds worth of electrical items on a thread designed to share info on bargains.

I'd be ashamed of myself to be begging strangers for their bargains.

    May contain nuts

    Noooooo!
Nothing can replace the smell of a book and the turn of a real page.

That's just my opinion though. I have friends who wouldn't be without theirs. :)

I agree too, I like seeing books, and feeling books, and generally just flicking through books, I never had books as a child, so I have overdone it with my kids.

But he has asked for a kindle or a nintendo 3ds, and I know which i'd prefer he had.

I cannot recommend a kindle highly enough. Plus, they unveiled the new one today only £89. If you can hold out for the kindle fire that looks brilliant but comes out in the states in november, no release date here yet.
The standars kindle beats other e-readers hands down because of the e ink technology that does not damage the eyes as a backlit screen does. Worth paying for for young eyes!
