Personally I prefer a paper book. However Kindles are awesome little bits of kit. There are two types Wi-Fi which requires Wi-Fi at home or Wi-Fi 3GS which a bit more expensive but you get free 3G for the extra cost (Amazon have deals with various mobile companies, they use their masts in return for a percentage of each unit and e-book). Also they have speakers that allow you to use as a mp3 player, you can use to check your emails and visit text based web sites (no video, the screen doesn't have a high enough refresh rate) and it also has some games built in (minesweeper and connect 4) and more can be downloaded from Amazon. Ideal for your child0 -

But he has asked for a kindle or a nintendo 3ds, and I know which i'd prefer he had.
Oh, and I used to feel like this before I got my kindle but I took to it like a duck to water and the optioon of having thousands of books at your fingertips - it is amazing.0 -
Well I refuse to give up :rotfl:
I have managed to get cameras for myself, OH and MIL. Got breadmakers for nephew, friend and me. What I really need though is a new vax or hoover etc to replace our dying dyson 03, Called in at my local Ts on tuesday and left with 2 Go Cook saucepan sets.

(These were showing on SEL as £34.99 tonight !)
Called in again tonight and had another look (hoping for a miracle, :rotfl:really want my own laptop or netbook) Needless to say there was nothing, couldn't believe I forgot my list  As I was waiting for SA to return to CS desk with the possibility of a laptop the CS asked if I wanted to buy a set of Boules for 40p! couldn't resist:rotfl:Laptops all scanned at 299+. Nevermind, got some woopsied bread and broccoli instead.
If OH is well enough tomorrow we might go on a road trip to some other Ts, maybe have a picnic and make a day of it :rotfl:0 -

Pleased you managed to share them around.
Im debating wheter a kindle would be good for my book mad 9 year old. We are running out of shelf space.
Less dusting!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -

3DS are ok, but Nintendo have admitted failure and knocked them right down in price (you can pick one up for under £140). A lot of customers I served have returned with kids complaining of headaches. Though you can adjust the level of 3D0 -
Ooh, forgot to say, I have the following available from Mr. T if anyone wants to do any swapsies with me (plus of course I will pay any extra and any extra postage):
Professional Pro Ceramic Straighteners £4.00
A small digital photo frame
Morphy Richards Double Heated Washable Underblanket (plug in)
Single Heated Blanket (plug in)
Am looking especially for a sat nav (or a laptop), but as that isn't very likely (LOL), am also on the lookout for one of the mini choppers or a sewing machine.
Tell me what cha got and what cha want! :-)The people in my life: Betty Crocker, Mr. T and Gordon (of Gordon's gin) :T0 -

whilst a kindle can never replace the touch smell and feel of a real book - there is the advantage of having so many amazing titles at your finger tips
i agree with the above poster though - LESS DUSTING!!!! :j0 -
My 10yr old DD cant use the 3ds as it gives her blinding headaches after 5 mins use, we swopped it for a normal ds in the end0
