The dealings I am having with Capquest just now just enrages me so much, these people treat you like you scum, you'd think the money came out of the idiot on the end of the lines pocket they way they take it too personal and be aggressive with you. I don't deal well with nastiness and usually just hang up on these people, WITHOUT ANYTHING GETTING PAID. This is very dangerous and is why bigger problems occur. It would be a lot nicer to have a loan to pay these people off instead so the next time they phone me is the last....
  • These sent me a statuary demand and are seeking to get me bankrupt.

I have offered them £450 as a full and final settlement and theyjust sent me a letter to ask me to ring them. Im sending them the " contact in writing only " letter. I havn't had the SD set aside. If it comes to court action then at least i have proof i have offered them something. Im not that scared anymore to be honest.
  • I must be the only person who hasn't had a problem with Capquest.
I owed the money they asked about, they were polite every time I spoke to them. They did add charges, but took them off when I set-up a standing order with them (and confirmed in writing they wouldn't add charges, etc.)

I'm sorry you guys have such a bad time with them! :(

I received a letter from Capquest telling me I owed over £2000.00 for a dept I know nothing about, it was then followed up by telephone calls from them, both times asking for my date of birth which I refused to give, the first telephone call told me it was for a dept for a purchase I made at Curry's, the second, I was told that it was for purchase from B&Q, I advised them I have know knowledge of either of these and was told to forward £1.00 so a credit agreement could be sent to me, I wrote a letter stating I had know knowledge of any dept and enclosed a £1 coin, this morning I recieved my letter back from Capquest to resubmit my letter signed which I don't want to as giving them my signature may lead to all sorts of things, can anybody help me in what I should do next. :(

I'll move this to your own thread.

  • I am having the same issue, the voice message came from 01252 576300 and the numer they are telling me to call back on is 0844 2499494 .

I didn't call the number directly, but checked with my service provider what the number they have for Capquest is (0870 0843501) and was put through from there. Capquest said they do not have any record of my number but that the above numbers are definitely thiers.

The person I spoke to then asked for my details so she could 'check into it further'. OMG I have NEVER heard anything so obserd in my life. They haven't got any details about me at all, merely my phone number that they apparently happened open by chance, I call them as requested in thier constant and annoying voice messages, and when i call them they 'conveniently' cant find my number on thier records and want ME to give them my address and my postcode so they can "check it out"?? Do they think I am stupid? This has SCAM SCAM SCAM written all over it. If you contact them DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR DETAILS.

I have instead reported them to my telephone service provider who are in the process of looking into it, and will also report them to OFCOM too (everyone who gets these types of out of the blue intimidating messages from Capquest or anyone else, that wont stop, should do them same), this is clearly a scam and if it is to try and illigally extort money out of random people then that is criminal activity and needs to be taken very seriously and delt with by the law. This can only happen if people REPORT REPORT REPORT to the powers that be, it seems that only if protest on mass kicks in can these things be stopped. Also everyone please contact WATCHDOG at the BBC which I will be doing aswell.
  • I had a phonecall from this lot this morning, after a missed call last week... The man asked me to confirm my postcode, and I asked him to repeat who he was... he was evidently reading off a script, and apparently now I am married as he was referring to me as 'mrs'. I asked several times who he was and what it was about, then told him I wasn't giving him any 'security details' as I had never heard of Capquest. He was getting quite aggressive as I hung up.

I was fooled into something over the phone years ago, and there is no way I trust things like this... I hope word gets round that these people are complete scammers and no one else gets sucked in.

So not just me then getting these calls. I dont dispute the debt but do dispute to their harrasment of me and my mum who they keep calling. I refuse to complete DPA with them because they are so vague, and quite frankly rude! I am quite good at handling myself with people like this and cant wait to call them back! I am going to seriously boot off, obviously professionally!
  • I have been getting harassed by these people for the past few days now

I only know it's them as I've been eating calls from an American number which comes up on my iPhone as 00 1 (252) 576-422
    NC, USA.

Finally I answered today to find out who was calling me fromthe states and a woman said that she was from capquest and that they had sent me 7 letters regardig a personal matter and could I confirm my address and postcode and birthday so she could talk to me about it.when I asked who capquest were and what it was about, as I wasn't goig to give my details to her without knowing, she refused to tell me and said she would put down that I refused to speak to her then hung up

I found this site and I'm disgusted at what they do to try and get money from people!I know I have a debt with my old bank which I am disputig as it is all unauthorised overdraft charges for being 4p (yes 4p) overdrawn but it has been about 3 years since they have contacted me

Also I have never received any letters from capquest before just answerphone messages and texts.
  • Ok so i have had cap quest onto me since i missed payments for 3 months on my capital one card...

The Limit was £2000 and there are obviously charges as the balance is £2278.79
i know i have bank charges on my o/d thats in arrears aswell as all the direct debits bounced for a while and apparently i was getting charged so much per day that i was over my limit for 10 days each month... but this claiming back bank charges thing i will ask for advice on elsewhere.

RE capquest - i did have a cap one card and i did fail to pay it once all the preverbial hit the fan so i dont dispute the debt... i have ignored cap quest since january and last letter i have here (that i have found so far) is 24th feb from HL Legal solicitors.... "capquest debt recovery ltd have appointed us on behalf of their client capital one"... goes on to mention that if i dont sort out by 5th march court proceedings and further costs etc.
i know they have been calling as i answer and its silence for a few seconds b4 a recorded message about capquest starts and i hang up.

am i understanding right from this thread that as they are a third party there may be a way for me to negate having to actually pay this debt if they cant provide certain things?
I now dont want to call them (they were next on my list) incase that then makes me liable in some way when i could have dismissed the debt some how.
advice and guidance would be incredibly helpful here.

for a debt with o2 that i'd paid in full in 2005!!!! Every year i get a letter from a different debt recovery company and this year seems to be Capquests turn.

Every year in the past when i've had a letter demanding payment, i reply with "i've spoken to the CAB and they've suggested I ask you for proof" and then bizarrely I never hear from them again.

I've done the same with Capquest so I'm going to stick my neck out and say the same thing will happen again. Nothing. Until next year when they pass it to someone else.
