Horrid people (mostly). I had a message to ring them yesterday, and did so because I know my payments are up to date. Spoke to the rudest man in the world, who wrongly told me I was in default, was paying on the wrong date, etc etc... I asked him if he had to pass special exams in pig ignorance and bad manners to get his job, then hung up. Rang afain, and spoke to a lovely lovely lady, who put it all right and even apologised, and said the man had been wrong.

I told her it was nice to be in touch with someone polite at Capquest for a change, and she said "oh, the odd one of us is!"
Be carefull this is the Good guy,Bad guy routine, they all do it!.
  • Ive recieved letters upon, letters from Capquest, demanding i pay debt of £300 by such a date, most of the time its 10days after i recieve the letters... i threw them all away and ignored them, they now have my telephone number, which they have more than likely found in the phonebook.. they are constantly ringing at inapropriate times and asking for personal info over the phone. ive contacted legal advisors for advice on the matter,
and its clear now that if you have problems with companies like Capquest the first thing is, dont try to bargain or argue youll only end up with a sore ear and a headache. ask them for these two things first before telling them your personal info.?

    1) name of person whom you are speaking with and their telephone number /s , address of the company in question
    2) to post you out the original agreement & documents, that have been signed and dated by you and also the creditor, stating all terms and conditions

in most cases with companies like capquest or debt recovery agencies will not have the sufficient legal documentation that is required to retain the debt under legislation and law.

if they fail to provide this information in writing within 30 days, after you have requested a copy of the agreement. you will not have to pay a penny even if you owe it or not, but in some cases they do obtain this information, unfortunately then you will have to pay up,,, but if they fail to provide all requested info and continue to harass you by any means, you can actually take them to court and claim compensation.

it is very unlikely that companies like capquest will take you to court, as clearly it will cost them more than what the debt is worth and usually takes about 1 year to be authorised by the court itself to process a case against you..

i got a letter from a solicitors place today sayin they were appointed by capquest and i owe -£15, because i had overpaid them, and it says on the letter about court to recover the money that I owe THEM, i spoke to somebody at capquest last week because i had overpaid them and now they sent me this letter, its ridiculous!!!
  • Right everyone. I have just received in the post, my sons letter from CrapQuest a bill for £185.91p; which they purchased from another company. It doesnt say on there what Items were purchased, nor what date the said item(s) were purchased! So in fact I would say that its an illegal demand for money! I could start up a company and say to you all on here that you all owe me £200.00p. What would you all say to me - Go and get st....d I would imagine!

So it will be interesting to see when/ If a Solicitors letter appears at my old Address/ or to my Sons New Address where he has been residing for some years. And although I know he has paid all his debts years ago. I know that debts are not recoverable after 6 years!

Your views on CapQuest. In your opinion are they a Cowboy Unit, just trying to make money through fear? Is what they are doing legal?

Did you request the information in writing to them.. if not then thats what you need to do.. Unless you prefer your sons information sent to the wrong address you say cr*quest has without your knowledge..afterall it is personal info being sent thru extremely unsecure post...i wud go bananas if i found out that a letter was sent for my son to an old address containing everything about the debt..

remember also that creditors need upto date info i.e new addresses or tel num. it is ur sons responsibilty to update all his creditors of new addresses and such...he possibly has forgotten about the one your talking about here because the creditr was never updated on change of details...

I'm on my third letter in about 3 to 4 weeks from these people. In my recent letter they tell me the debbt is from Littlewoods Finance Co Ltd. I haven't ever bought anything from Littlewoods so am confident they have got the wrong person.

How do I sort this out? I don't want to phone them in case they don't leave me alone. Should I just ignore the letters? They give an account no for Littlewoods. Should I contact them to say I'm being harrassed for a debt that is nothing to do with me?

I've checked my credit history - I have nothing outstanding or bad - in fact its all really good because I've been working hard on good credit to buy a house...

    Help!!!
  • Hi,
I have just received a text asking me to ring the Telogram office. The name has made me suspicious. When I looked it up on the internet, I found all these people who were being harassed by this company.
I have not received a letter saying they have bought my debt just the above text. I don't know which debt it is for!.
I have requested the credit agreements from my creditors and the Halifax seem to be the one who are not complying.
Should I just ignore this text?

    Yes, ignore the text.

I hate this sort of thing...they want the money, but for some reason they always fail to actually just write to you with all the information you need. Instead they want you to call so they can spout rubbish and lie down the phone at you.
  • Looks like they are at it again.
I have just got a text message from them, all it says is:
Dear {MY NAME IN CAPS} please contact CapQuest on 08715270311 quoting ref:nnnnnn
No other details and no previous correspondence from them so I did a web search and found this thread.
Obviously I shall ignor it until they contact me in writing, no point in paying for the priviledge to be ripped off and threatened.
  • Thankfully, my experience with Capquest has been limited (so far) but it was still pretty horrible.

Until this morning I had no idea who Capquest were. However, my mother was contaced by them a few hours ago - they refused to tell her why they were calling, but demanded she provide telephone numbers for me. They seemed to know an old address of mine, but this is all they were willing to say. She refused to give them any information, but took their number. Apparently they were pretty aggressive with her on the phone.

When I called them, they still refused to tell me what they wanted or even who they were. The man I spoke with said for legal reasons he couldnt' tell me anything about Capquest and if he did he would be sacked. Obviously I refused to give him any information about myself.

When I Googled Capquest I realized what kind of company they were (claiming) to be. The phone calls have really shaken my mother and I up.
