There's only one slimline freestanding in the best buys table....Bosch SRS45E42GB

Dont know how it got there though cos it doesn't seem that great to me.

Pros: Excellent cleaning and drying, few watermarks, delayed start
Cons: Poor energy efficiency, very noisy

2 owner reviews, one gave 1 out of 5 , the other gave 2 out of 5

Main complaint was about the tray design being impractical and things fall over. Cleaning was ranked as good though.

If you have specific models you're considering I can check if there's a review for them?

Whilst Which reviews aren;t always that great to rely on (not particularly real world tests in many cases) its no great surprise that only one slimline models makes it into their list. They will always be a compromise purely based on space, we had one at our last house as that was how the kitchen was designed and to be honest we couldn't fit enough in it to make it worth running it and it was noisy and didn't alwys wash that well. that was a Hotpoint

If there is any way you can fit in a full size version with some re jigging of the kitchen then do consider it as your choice and value for money will be much better on the full size versions

Bit like the washing machine thread its an appliance where a decent parts and labour warranty would be worth having included as lots of parts to wear and they get lots of use.

Also check out inside and see what size plates they take as some are smaller top to bottom internally than others and consider whether you want a cultery tray or rack you out inside. The tray is good for ease but takes up height and I prefer the moveable basket that we have in our Siemens

So if you can afford then Siemens or Bosch will generally be a decent bet and will have 2 year warrnaty but try and get one of the Siemens witha 5 year warranty instead
As other sdo use salt if ain a hard water area and ignore the tablet claims that you don't need it - you do!
  • I have a Hotpoint dishwasher that runs very well and I am happy with.

I second, third and fourth everyone who says they are a kitchen essential!

Before I got my first one some years back I always considered them a luxury, but not anymore!
