  • Can I sign up please? £350
A high target, so I don't get too discouraged, plus I have no idea how awful it's gotten lately.

This is for one newly vegan heavily pregnant woman, one veg-dodging skinny man and one picky toddler.
We've no car, and not much in walking distance. I'm considering a veg box scheme, as I think combining that with some other options will save money on the weekly expensive and convenience food-heavy Tesco order I've been doing recently.

  • Hi first month of me doing this! Can you put me down for £100 for September please! Thats for me dh and ds. Not including formula in that budget. And we are well stocked up on nappies so wont need any! £7.80 spent so far. We also did a stockpile shop last week so we wont need to spend our normal £40-£50 a week.

Just a quick question on fresh fruit and veg, and meat... where are the best/cheapest places to buy them from?

    Afternoon all

Went over budget last month due to the hols and our family holiday but not sure by how much, but need to get straight back into it.

PLEASE PUT ME IN FOR SEPT FOR £400

I've been to MrA's this morning and spent £89.22 - I got lots of stock items but not much meat etc. Now trying to buy meat at the butchers, packets of meat seem to be getting smaller for same/more money and quality is nowhere near as good. However did buy a fresh chicken for Sunday lunch, have menu planned for this next week, so hopefully should not need to buy anything except milk, maybe fresh veg/fruit.

    Now off to amend sig.

Keep safe and well everyone, have a great weekend.

Fianc! moved in mid-July just before we went on holiday so August was the first month I’ve had to shop for both of us living together full time. Didn’t realise just how much he eats! Doesn’t help that he’s working full time renovating our house so we’re both living off my wage and he’s burning up calories faster than I can get the into him. I’ve been budgeting on groceries for ages now but spent nearly 200% of the budget in August! I only just discovered the August GC on the 31st but I decided I’d better join for September to try to bring the spending under a bit more control.

Trouble is, the cupboards were almost totally empty by the end of August so I had to do a BIG shop yesterday. The budget I'm supposed to set is £120 but I managed to spend £111.53 in Mr M. Fridge, freezer and cupboards are completely packed to the rafters now and I’ve done some meal plans that will get me through at least 3 weeks so hopefully it won’t be too bad. I’m gonna try and start off with a realistic target and aim to bring it down to £120 by the end of the year so for September, can you put me down for £180 please?

    Thanks
  • Hiya

Please can you put me down for £160. Till today I have shopped at Mr As da, but our bills for just two of us have been ridiculously high with each shop coming in around £55! I'm trying a new supermarket today, so will let you all know how it goes. Wish me luck! x
  • £3.25 today on 30 eggs from free range egg place down the road (misshapes tray).

Am thinking about packed lunches for DD (9) as she is back to school on monday, she loves sliced plastic bread with watery ham but am going to think about other options (she likes quiche, pasta salad, leftover curry and rice,) but if i put in cheese or scones they are left. I have done wet ham with hm soft flour tortilla before so may make some of those later for freezer.

Today i made some 'cereal bars' with oats, flour, hm plum jam and a little mixed spice. Hopefully they'll be a hit for lunchbox, otherwise will bakes some cupcakes as know she likes those.

I have had a read on the £100 challenge of ms aka (sorry if name not correct) , and that lead me to looking at the vouchers. As Asda is so far away i hadn't got the malibu (a litre for £14) which i was craving, but now see if i had bought it in tesco locally then put the reciept through their price checker i would get a tesco voucher for the difference. This has lead me to think about buying in tesco then 'backclaiming' next time, and i have also spent half an hour putting in the reciepts from my purse to see if i get a voucher or two. I did have one asda reciept from on holiday and put that into asda but it spat it back as over 28 days old (by a day

    good luck all then
