I'm thinking, as I actually MEDICALLY need a drink and a natter it should come out of my prescription budget - whadda ya reckon?? ;)

Just got back shopping. Saved £4.75 off my original target of £40!!!! Well, I usually spend £55-£60! Changed shopping to Al di from As da and my, what a difference it has made! Ok, maybe I still have a few things from last weeks shop in the freezer, but still, I've noticed that the prices of fresh stuff like fruits and veg are way way way cheaper than As da. Has anyone else noticed that? I'm a little dubious, are they in any way of a lesser quality?
    xx

I find the quality is as good if not better than Asda and far far cheaper.

I have decided to change my shopping day to Sunday as that is when I seem to be lucky with Asda whoopsies, but I went to see if
I could get a maxidress for GD in sale.

I called in on my 90 year old neighbour to see if she wanted anything brought back and she wanted the 75p cooking bacon.

Nothing in sale and the bacon had gone up to £1.08, texted my neighbour and offered her one out of my freezer instead and came out of Asda with NOTHING,must be a first ever for me.

So on track for Sunday Whoopsing and also a first ever 6 NSDs.

    Love this challenge.

could you put me down for £300 this month please

spends so far of £35 but that did include some of the 1/2 price soap powder, 3for1 frubes & a fair bit of f&v (Lots of bogofs)

hoping to avoid the big shop til mid week when the kids are back at school :j which should make a big difference in my spends :D honestly how do such small people eat soo much  prob wouldnt be so bad but i do prefer them to have healthier options most of the time so lots of f&v, yougarts,milk/fruit juices ect all the things that seem to be soo much more expensive than junk food

    welcome to all the newbies

thanks to everyone who keeps this thread going and to Helen for updating this month :A

    Hello all,

thanks again for starting the challenge!!

Well, for me, i've lost track of much i've spent so far this year. What with bulk buying one month then spending very little the following. Its just turned into a nightmare.

So instead i'm starting afresh, losing the annual figure of £2000 and instead aiming for £200 a month, i'm upping it by £40 a month, to include school dinners for ds1 and 2, which is about £20 a week ish.

I know its cheaper fort them to have pack lunches, but i'm thinking cold weather, means cold tummies. Last year i ended up bringing the children home from school to feed them or buying school meals. I can't that this year doe to DS1 going to secondary school.

So as from today i have spent £16.14 on shopping.

Well i'm off to peruse the recipe threads and plan some sort of snacks etc for DS1 to take to school in his bag. I'm thinking apples, cookies, cheese sticks at the moment along side his main lunch. Hopefully this will help last the day as during induction week he bought from the school cafe.

Thanks again for starting up :D

£1.52 spent in Coop tonight on milk and 2 reduced loaves of bread (one of which is a tiger loaf for 39p - yum!)

I'll freeze them and if they don't keep they'll be handy for breadcrumbs.

  • Meg and Compbunny, thanks. The quality seems great. I actually bothered to read the label after my post and it said 'A class'. The quality seems great, and you are right, it is as good as if not better than As da.

    Mr Al Mr As
    White Seedless grapes £1.19 £2.00
    Blueberries £0.99 £1.80
    Shallots £0.69 £1.37
    Lemons £0.75 £1.50
    Strawberries £1.49 £2.67

Not bad for a start eh?

  • Hello everyone

Just popping in to report a spend of £27.30 in L**l tonight. It was lots of fruit and veg, milk, squash, crisps, eggs, muesli, tinned toms and a few others things including freezer bags and rubber gloves. I might pop back over the weekend to get some of the Branston Beans which are 87p for a 4 pack - what a bargain!

I'll update my sig in a minute.

    Have a good weekend all.
