Apologies for not being on for a few days, we've been away celebrating my brother's 30th birthday!

Before I forget, congrats Puzzledbubble on the birth of your little one! :A

Angelatgraceland I will definately be trying that Herby Bread, sounds gorgeous! Tempted to add a bit of cheese to it, but will try it in its pure form first ;)

Well done Mr Compbunny! What's he going to be doing?

Thankyou! Very kind of you to say. He will be in procurement and is really looking forwards to starting :)

I know there are loads of threads on this, but I'll need to start making lunches up soon for him to take to work...what are your number one favourites for taste, ease and cost? He is not a vegetarian (just me, but he is happy to eat veggie stuff) but isn't overly keen on normal sandwiches. So exciting!

Any advice on what tupperware bits and bobs you have found to be essentials?

Also reporting a £0.99 spend on a loaf of seeded bread and £20 on some gillette blades... lots of money but we found some clearance ones so got 28 for £20 which is incredible and will keep my partner going for ages! So £20.99 added to sig.

Well the original recipe I adapted mine from does contain cheese but I wanted one with lower fat content and even cheaper! Here is the original cheese version:

This one was a great inspiration to me but I always find working with "cups" confusing and I also found it a little sweet so I redid it to suit my own tastes. This is what I based my fruit version on also of course!

Hehe I think you are right...cheese is unnecessary and fattening. Probably best I never introduce it ;)

  • Evenng all!
I've had a day off today and went for lunch with my brother. Had previously bought it on a groupon deal, so it doesn't effect my grocery budget.

I think total spend for today was £3.65 and got a total bargain in Wilkinsons, massive childrens bucket and spade set which will be perfect for my little man next year at the seaside. Was originally £4.99 but with 75% off I got it for £1.25! Can't understand why they would reduce non-perishables like that though, but good for me!

Got my boss to save some leftovers of Chicken and Bacon pasta bake at work, so I've just made a marinara sauce and had some of that which was delish! Hoping to have a NSD day tomorrow so sending good weather vibes so we can go have a good play in the park rather than spending a fortune in a soft-play place!

Is there a seperate NSD thread that I can join? It's the little £3-4 spends that all add up for me!!

  • Thanks for some of the recipe ideas. May incorporate some into next months meal planner.

Quite a few spends for me since Thursday.

Tesco-£4.25 (Strawberries, flav. water, milk, kitchen towels, rolls, mousses & yogurts)
    Farmfoods-£1.38 (2 packs wraps)
Morrisons-£1.69 (VERY pleased with this, all reduced except bananas - got 2 packs of mushrooms, bag of apples, pack of tomatoes, 1/2 a pineapple & 5 bananas) :j
    Tesco-£4.39 (milk, bread etc)
    B&M - 78p (coke)

This all takes me to £119.11 for the month. I will probably go slightly over budget but am happy to do so as added £10 to my grocery purse because sold a few items on eBay.

Menu plan for us, for the week is:

Mon-Vegetarian Chilli (kids cooked dinner at school)
Tues-Sausage hotpot & veg (kids cooked dinner at school)
    Wed-Family chicken bake
Thurs-Stir fry & noodles (may have to amend this as DDs have friends for tea & not sure others will eat this)
    Fri-Cottage Pie & veg
Sat-Ribs, corn & HM potato wedges
Sun-Off to harvest lunch but have got to provide tomato & mozzarella salad

Hope everyone has a good week

  • Morning, managed a NSD yesterday thanks to the milkman not turning up to be paid:), made a chicken a veg pie, cauliflower cheese and rst tatties for tea last night, all items used out of stores and there is 2 portions of pie left that DS and DH can have tonight with chips and peas, DD is at a friends so i will just have soup, probably a free tin of campbells:D.

So today should be another NSD:j.
  • I've got a week to go and I've got £10.60 to last me which should be plenty in theory as I only have to buy milk and lunch one day. I think I'm going to try and reduce my budget next month as I really need to save more money so that I have more money to do fun stuff! So next month I'm going to try out more recipes from the front page and try and eat some of my batch cooking out the freezer :)
