:j WELCOME TO THE SEPTEMBER NSD CHALLENGE :j

Every day’s an adventure on the NSD thread, it’s just time we admitted it finally.
We share tales of how we’ve managed to avoid buying Whoopsies, shop-made sandwiches, chocolate and any other must-have purchases in an attempt to gain as many NSDs (and prizes) as possible. That’s without even mentioning the many virtual outings we go on (we visited Nottinghill Carnival in August). You too can join in with our adventures and conquer your own challenges and win lots of prizes.

Some interesting dates for September:
22nd September – The Autumn Equinox
4th September – Blackpool illuminations start
12th September – last night of the proms
All great opportunities for an outing, provided Hubert behaves himself!!
:rotfl:

For anyone who hasn’t joined us before, we are a happy (and some might say mildly insane) bunch doing battle with those retailers - and there’s plenty of temptation all around us. We are seriously committed to saving money, but nobody said it can't be done with a smile on your face - so we organise riotous nights out and gatecrash any function going - all without leaving the comfort of our own imaginations or armchairs! :D

On a slightly more serious note, we are here to help each other avoid spending for the number of days we feel we can manage to try to take back some control over our hard-earned money. What you class as a "spend'" is entirely your choice; some people will try to shop on the days DD/SO etc are paid, whilst others will not include essentials such as rent. Have a look for a post from our sponsor (and godmother of this thread) BigMummaF, this contains some guidelines and ideas for starting you off on the challenge.

It’s amazing how inventive you get when you’re determined NOT to spend - from weird menu ingredients to surprising DIY solutions - but you know what? 99% of the time those wacky ideas work.

The link to our August thread is below so you can see what a friendly group we are. New recruits are joining up all the time - everyone is welcome so please don’t be shy, come and join us, the more the merrier.

Put me down for 15 in September, Bdini - did not quite make it in August but I am a glutton for punishment! Now, certainly we should gatecrash the last Proms night with our Union flags and party poppers, and I am sure some of our happy crew can think of some way to celebrate the autumn equinox.

I'm going to attempt 14 again for September. Nearly there with August, now I'm getting into the swing of things it should be easier.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Please put me down for 14 NSD in September BDINI....I easily made my first target of 10 in August and then my 2nd target of 13. Though as a newbie I don't really know what to expect month on month just yet. Thanks.

Hi, I'm going to try this over September. I want 6 NSDs. We're well stocked on food at the moment and DS1 has just come out of night nappies. Question - does spending DS2's birthday money count as spend or can I still say no spend (he's just turned one so I get to spend it for him on his clothes!)?

Make your own rules, Nitha! Whatever counts for you is what matters. I would think if someone gave you money as a gift and you spent it then it's as if they gave you the thing you bought, so I certainly would not count that as a spend.

Sign me up for my normal 12 please - though I already have a sneaky suspicion I may find it hard to reach :o

I want to try and start getting stuff in ready for the winter - things like a second pair of running shoes (meaning they have chance to dry out between use), some grips to hook round/under them to allow me to continue training even if it snows, and a proper snow shovel (having struggled to clear the drive using a normal garden spade the last few years). Also torches/batteries etc to sort out, and most of this is stuff I'd go out an pick up at a weekend, which means it won't co-incide with a D/Debit.......

But of course, once I've got (and paid for) the snow shovel and the grips for my shoes I just know we'll not see enough of the white stuff this year for me to actually need them ;)
