Well a NSD for me today, we had party pack delivered courtesy of O2 with 8 breakfast pies and 8 cans of beer!! so these have been shared out (well the pies have OH kept all the beer!!) OH been glued to the tv today watching RU so Iv had quite a lazy day, picked lots of raspberries off my bushes, have left some of them a bit too long, so gave the birdies a little treat, the rest of them are sat drying on my draining board ready for the freezer NSD tomorrow probably as not going far, weather forecast not good Im going to have a look at recipe thread now to see what I can do with me Rasps!!!:)

After watching on Iplayer the food thing on the hospital by James Martin, it got me thinking about my foods. So I have decided to try and get some Fruit & Veg boxes and a few more organic deliveries added into my shopping. And still keep in my budget. Eek.
This week I have ordered a delivery, for Tuesday (same day as my meat order), £33.14.
But thats not the normal weekly, there is some eco bio laundry at £14.99 but I hope that will last me at least a month, if not more. Baring in mind I end up doing my daughters washing as well as our own.
When I die I will know that I have lived, loved, mattered and made a difference, even if in a small way.

Went to Lidl for the half price stew meat, which was all gone, and spent £17.49 on bacon, veg oil, dog chews and some frozen leeks and some other bits. Hope they've got the stew meat tomorrow I want 6 which will be 3 meals, need to feed 6, (5 big eaters), saves me quite a bit when it's half price
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them
  • not taking OH shopping again lol, my estimated £30 was way off once we had bought the large stock pot with the vouchers and the £5 tin of roses lol

But we have decided that the Roses are coming out of the Christmas pot and the large stock pot is my treat for the kitchen so of £47.40 spent there is actually £25 for me to give back leaving us £37.82/£160 until the 25th.

I bought a cashbook the other day and I am determined to start keeping proper track again of all food spends. I now have a Mr T Express on my doorstep and although very convenient, I have noted that the prices are anything from 4% to at least 10% higher compared to the Mr T Metro I usually visit. I was also intrigued to note that the Mr T Express had offers which the Metro didnt and vice versa. Also, the Mr T Express for exampled had chocolate - bogof at £2.07 per item yet the offer has now appeared in the metro at bogof £1.99 per item - its enough to give you a headache!

They have had a few whoopsies in the express so I have taken advantage of those although the discount for the short dated has not been that great ? and some offers have been the same as if I had visited the "large store".

Our of interest, saw the feature on bbc watchdog about the shrinking food (mullerli&es and cather*dral c*ty in particular). would you rather pay more and get the same (size) item or pay the same price and get a smaller item ?
  • I have been under rather a lot of pressure at work since I returned from holiday and have significantly under-achieved, so I have had head down and haven't had much time to read the thread, but everyone seems to be edging rather over budget this month. The weather is so horrendous (worse to come, I hear) that it's easy to comfort-buy.

I am still on track and have just spent £15.45 today at Lidls and £4 with vouchers for loo rolls at Farm Foods which I don't count in the budget. Made loads of portions for the freezer last weekend so could probably go until the end of the month buying milk, fruit and veg. Stocked up last week on the Wrights bread mixes so that's another staple taken care of. I have now given myself the task of cutting up and sorting out one of the bacon mis-shape packs but these look really good for adding to casseroles and soups, etc.

We were due to go to an outdoor event today and I'd bought all the stuff for smoked salmon sarnies, Cava, etc. so will have the food for lunch tomorrow and then put the Cava by for Christmas.

Well, I didn't end up with a NSD after all, so have removed it from my signature :o After spending the day re-organising my kitchen, I realised we were short on quite a few essential things... pasta, washing powder & fabric softener, milk, items for DS's packed lunches etc

I ended up with a total of £28.28, which was great for the amount I bought (it should have been £34.77 before all the special offers!) We are now stocked up nicely, and although it was half of next weeks budget, I am very happy... but DH and I were discussing that maybe £250pm is a bit more realistic a budget for us anyway (2 adults, 2 children & 1 dog) so will be working to that budget now... if this can't be changed until next month that's fine ;):D
