Was going to do online asda shop, it was coming in at £63! (includes wine and coffee though)...so thought would go Aldi instead but still spent £58!! (for one adult, one child and a cat!). However, I did buy so much veg, sauces and meat and have spent an hour and half this morning in the kitchen batch cooking so HOPEFULLY wont need to spend much for the rest of the month, yay me

Should be an NSD today - staying the the outlaws house tonight which means not having to do tea or lunch tomorrow so that'll save a bit
must remember to take out the beef mince when we get back tomorrow evening and then decide what to make, sick of mince n tatties, not overly keen on burgers - thinking maybe a meatloaf if I can find a nice recipe then the rest can be sliced for packed lunches for OH.
Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!

failed on the nsd as ran out of sugar and continuing to preserve pears as i get given bags of them. good news is needed new toothbrushes (dd lost hers!?) and bought b1g1f on the 2.86 ones, and the till did not take the free one off. was a long wait at customer services (where they thought it was not b1g1f) but after the manager checked the shelf (and got the staff to take down the offer as it was an error) they honoured the get x 2 back so i got the toothbrushes free. thanks so much to mse as i didn't know about this until i read it on here. :beer:nov grocery challenge, £.227.69/300, 9/25 nsd: , 7 Cmo, 10 egm.

Just back from Mr T's doing the weekly shop - came to £30.49 - 49p over budget:mad:
I was talking to a little old lady there and she was saying that she can now only buy what she can afford not what she should be eating - sad isn't it? Food is such a shocking price these days - I've definitely made changes to what I buy and its not a massive disaster if I spend a bit more than budget but I really don't know how people with big families and small/fixed incomes cope.
I think I have everything I need for the week (may have to pick up a bit of extra fruit towards the end of the week) so hopefully minimal additional spends.0 -
NSD here again today :j
It nearly wasn't though, as husband decided to phone from work and inform me that we have no bread or buns for lunch today (I don't really eat bread so don't notice)... fortunately though I had some tortillas in the freezer, so they are now defrosting and we will have wraps for lunch with the last of the leftover chicken
It has really helped that I am spending most of my time decluttering the place, before I start my new job on Monday... being busy really helps keep your mind off the fact you haven't been to the shops in a while :rotfl:Debt Free Journey started 21.05.20170 -
Hi everyone,
popped into M*rris*ns yesterday to stock up for my mum. The total was over £100. Now to be fair she needed everything, toilet rolls, soap powder, toiletries, cleaning materials, tins, etc.etc.etc. However I was still shocked at the total bill. I know I could and should have shopped around for the best buys but it was so much easier and more importantly less time consuming to shop in one store.
I don't know how some people are managing. Although I am keeping an eye on my spending I am still able to budget for treats but some poor souls are having to make impossible choices such as: food or heating.
Good luck to everyone. It takes a long time to eat an elephant and I'm doing it a bite at a time!!!0 -
A couple of spends to record for Thursday and Friday - £1.50 on reduced big chicken and asparagus quiches and bread at M&S, plus £8.35 [milk, veg, frozen wedges, reduced chicken and a couple of end-of-week treats] at Mr S. Sig updated accordingly.
Not sure what the rest of the weekend will bring - supposed to be going out later, but I'm feeling grotty, so will either shell out for food when out, or stay in and hibernate [and end up with an NSD]. Tomorrow, well, we'll see what the weather does. Probably won't really need anything until bread early next week, anyway.
Three things I need to focus on: 1. Eat fewer biscuits. 2. More NSDs. 3. Stick to the meal plan, even if it's just me in for the evening [that's where the biscuits tend to come into play - not sure what's happened to my will power lately.]Haven't done the GC since February, but a glance at the Tower of Receipts tells me I really need to get back into it... and plenty of other Challenges besides.0 -
Another weekly shop done £40.98 spent including beer for OH and nappies for new arrival to the family later on this month :j
Altogether £95.94 left in shops in September and 7 NSDs
I'm on track so far...:Tmortgage started 31st May 2011 -£59200

This is getting beyond a joke now, spent loads of budget and still need sawdust, gerbil bedding, dog food, baby food, tinned fruit and a few cheapo ready meals that we keep in for quick dinners. Everything seems to have gone up so much this month it really is ridiculous. After getting the above I will only need fruit veg bread and milk for the next week but hopefully the next fortnight fingers crossed. Unfortunately had to send other half for the sawdust, bedding and baby food so I dread to think what else he will find especially as he is going to home bargains.
Does anyone know if you can use shredded letters, papers etc for gerbil bedding??To get to Disneyland Florida 20160
