  • Downsizer, I've been following your diary but haven't yet posted - however when I heard the news about your ex's holiday I felt so angry for you that I wanted to let you know!

It is clear from your diary that you're working really hard to keep everything together for you and your daughter, and to give your kid what you can. Learning about this 'opportunity' that came up for your ex must really be like a punch in the kidneys. You are right - you do have the moral high ground here, but more than that, your daughter will always know that you were the one who was there for her. Life shouldn't be that way, we all know that. But you are doing what needs to be done, and that's what counts for something in the end.

Let him have his week in the sun. You have the love and company of your daughter, and the knowledge that you are doing the right thing. No contest.

Sending you good wishes, and hoping all this doesn't spoil your week. You're doing a terrific job. Hang in there. :T
  • Oh Penny - what a lovely thing to say - thanks for that. Its true enough - a cheeky wee face makes up for a selfish old git anyday!! :rotfl:

Been to the dentist - all clear ( phew!)
Starting to wonder if my eyes need testing though - having to hold things a bit further away to read them now. Not going though - glasses are expensive so I'll just have to get longer arms!! ;)

My parents get back from hols at the weekend - yay - childcare backup returns!! Who needs ex eh?

  • Aah you have every right to rant DS, wouldn't it have been nice if he'd have treated your little one to a break aswell? They really do take the biscuit dont they? Although mine does pay maintenance which just about covers my sons college lunches & bus fares, he is certainly not generous with spending any of his time with his lovely son,in fact it is ZERO,choosing to make a fuss of his new wife's kids instead,do they think our kids don't notice their selfish unkindness?? You are right to rise above it & remember at the end of the day we will have earned the love & respect & do indeed receive it back every day :):)
  • My wee one may only be 5 but already makes comments about daddy not doing anything for her and being bored when she sees him - she knows without me even mentioning it. Always promised myself I wouldn't badmouth him in front of her (so I come on here to do it hahaha) - tempted as I am.
Feeling chirpier today ( a good sleep always does that) - can't believe how far away payday is - its back on the gruel for a week and a half. I have a friend coming for dinner on Sat - cheapo bottle of PG and something made from freezer contents methinks! Did a roast beef on Sunday - it was tough as old boots - but couldn't waste it - stirfry last night! Great jaw exercise......:p

  • Pesky neck has seized up again so its back to the physio. Not had t o go since before Xmas ( think of the saving!!) as I've ben going to the gym which helps but my lousy posture and sitting at a computer has got me again.
£38 a pop but he does do wonders. Going to try and catch it before it gets really bad and means months of physio. Signs of old age creeping in.....
Bang goes my gallant attempt at saving £50 this month. I have managed to put £50 aside towards insurance excess though so thats good at least.
My valentine's eve was spend watching the biggest loser and doing the ironing!! DD did write a note saying 'I lov yoo' though - best valentine I ever got!! :D ( and no help with the spelling haha!

  • Hi I'm new to this board, I really feel for little ones where Daddy is selfish and doesnt take responsibility for their children. I have a few friends that have gone through similar experiences as you. I cant be nice for you, just keep showing her all the love and she will always love you :A

I love the valentine day card :D

  • Thanks FF - far too many out there in my position isn't there? I have a good rant when I hear about 'selfish single mums wanting it all - want the child but won't provide a family environment' etc. I'd love to know the proportion of single parents who are actually the ones left picking up the pieces.

Wow - look at that - I didn't rant too loudly haha!! :rotfl:

  • Argh. DD's pesky ballet class haven't cashed their cheque (£65) and her swimming is due this month on 12th (£76) ow ow ow. And I need a hoover as mine died. March is looking tight already!! I'm not even mentioning the insurance excess ( have save £50 - £100 to go)
Looking on the bright side - I'll have one whole new chimney for £150 which beats forking out £4k so I can't complain!!
So much for some new work trousers - the old shiny ones will have to last another month.......;)
I am being taken for lunch today too - yessssss!

Im just watching antiques roadshow & wishin' i had a few of those rare little items lurkin'in back of my garage, i'm thinking faberge?!! :rotfl:
  • Here's to finding that Fab egg lurking in your garage thrifty. I don't seem to find much of value in my belongings sadly...;)

Got the sunday night blues. Here's my life; go to work, organise childcare, wait for the weekend, dread mondays, get paid, pay my bills, scratch my way through the month and try and pay off my debts. Not good enough - going to have to organise a holiday or something before I go nuts!! There has to be some fun doesn't there? And soon!! :j
