Sadly looking like £320........wahhhhh!:mad:May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
I am calm!
I've told myself that the chimney would have cost me nearly £3k without the insurance so despite my insurers refusing to pay out the whole lot ( am still going to complain) I am better off. £500 is far better than £3k!!
I am still sticking pins in the voodoo doll of loss adjustor though. Just for good measure.
3 weeks till my holiday woohoo! Can't wait - seaside here we come!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
For the first time in years I was bored this weekend! :j
I've been firefighting ex's financial meltdown, selling up, renting, moving then trying to sort out my new place. And this weekend, for the first time since I can remember - I didn't have a list of things to do, as long as your arm. Oh it was good! Still did loads - but out of choice - not necessity.
All makes for a less grumpy start to the week!!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Well - according to my spreadsheet I have 52 payments left on my mortgage. This of course involves frugality until 2016 - which I do intend to keep up but I'm only too aware of breaking boilers, maintenance issues and other nasties that creep into life.
My calculations involve me saving a rainy day account which starts in ernest in 3 months when card is dealt with. That is a non-negotiable as I like a safety net!
Oh yes and no interest rises - so um, its probably not that likely ( especially looking at the latest) but its something to aim for!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
More spreadsheet readjusting yesterday - Sept 2016 will be when I get to make my last mortgage payment! I'm on a SVR of 2.99% at the mo and wondering if it'll go up like some of the others. I'm with Coventry BS.
I can take the rise but I'm hedging my bets that mortgage rates won't go through the roof - too many bed debts in there for the lenders as so many are on the edge I suspect.
So - I'll hang in there and just keep paying what I am until the card is done and savings pot big enough - then its pay pay pay.
Thrifty - hope you're ok out there and not working all hours!!May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

At last - the scaffold will be coming down! :j
I'll be so glad to see the back of that and get my garden back!
Been planning where my greenhouse and veg patch are going to go and getting quotes for slabbing. Very excited. I'll not grow much this year I guess as I'll miss planting etc but a pal is growing seedlings for me in her greenhouse so I can try a few things this out- next year will be full-on Good Life stuff. Not going for chickens and pigs though - wayyyyy to small a garden for that!
Two weeks till we go on our first proper holiday for about 3 years!! A wee seaside break - not much but its AWAY!!! :beer:May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!

You're doing the right thing Thrifty in clocking up all the OT you can, whilst you can. Hard going though but you're doing brilliantly. Keep it up and rest when the OT runs out!
Just written a cheque for £960!!! ( £520 of it is insurance money) a big ouch for me.And thats only the emergency chimney stuff - still got to get the insurance for the rebuilding. He's agreed to pay it but I won't believe it till the cash is in my bank.
Payday approaches. Just done this months salaries and we've been able to put one guy back on full salary ( everyone on 20% reduction just now) - most of the others have got used to a 4 day week and seem quite happy ( not about the reduced salary though obv.........
I can see the light at the end of my credit card tunnel - soon be down to £300 yay!
I've really been watching what I spend in the supermarket but its got so expensive. Doesn't matter what I do - its always about £50. The cost of food has rocketed hasn't it? And I always make from scratch, have stopped buying organic for most stuff but still its about the same.
Hey ho. A mountain of ebay stuff to put on again so hopefully I can make a wee bit on that - another charity sale of nearly new stuff too so again a few quid there I hope.
One day this'll all get easier won't it??May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
March 2019 - CC gone and bye bye M2 on 31st! £140k to go.:j0 -
Reading some other threads on MFW I'm amazed at how much some people can overpay on their mortgage. I struggle to maintain my measly £75 a month - but I'm paying off debts so ought to be pleased with that.
A savings pot will give me peace of mind and I suppose I can mentally offset that against the mortgage to make me feel better but can't use it IYSWIM. I know that once the debts are gone I can start to make more of an inroad with the savings / OPs but I just wish I could see it going down further.
I'll have been in my 'new' house for a year in May - and I'll have paid off £3k by then -I ought to be happy with that I suppose - just feels like slow progress and I have overpayment envy when I see people taking £10k off a year........guess there are more than one of them, better paid, no kids etc........hey ho.:(May 2018 - £159k + £3.5K CC - let the countdown begin!
