As a talktalk broadband user I find that as long as there are no hitches it is okay but when something goes wrong they do not inform you so you can be three to four days without e-mails getting through and trying to contact them by phone is horrendous and costly sometimes not even getting through I had to use their web page and threaten changing my ISP before they telephoned to apologise for technical faults::rolleyes:0

I have also had terrible problems since joining TalkTalk in April 2006. In desperation I emailed Charles Dunstone as was getting nowhere after emails and numerous phone calls. Fixed within two days. So the moral of the story is go to the top.0

Hi all,
We decided not to apply for their service in July as there was a long wait, but being lazy to research more other options, checked with them about the length of the wait in September and it was around 2 months. The connection was 1-2 weeks late than promissed (we had to call them to remind them), but since than it seems to be working fine. We make lots of calls to countries that are 'free' to call, so for now we are happy with it. Our bill (only one for now) is much smaller now. (we used 'cheep numbers' to call abroad before)
Will update you if there are problems with installing wireless.nat0 -
I applied for the free broadband in May, finally got it in Augaust and then TalkTalk decided to "upgrade" the service at the end of October, stating that I would receive a faster service. This resulted in me being without a telephone line for over 4 weeks. I called them alost daily throughout this period and each time I was told that it would be reported to an engineer or that my complaint would be treated urgently.
By the third week I decided to go back to BT but this took a week to get reconnected to them. The BT engineer who came out to visit (because after moving back to them there was still a problem with the line) confirmed that when the TalkTalk engineers did their business at the local exchange they left something or other unconnected. Sorry for the lack of detail but the technical jargon goes over my head.
I am now waiting for my mobile bill so that I can inform TalkTalk how much I want them to reimburse me - however I do not expect any joy.0 -

I have a couple of friends who would love to fill in your poll, but are unable to due to having no internet access at all! This has been the case for several weeks now and talktalk are doing nothing to sort out the problem, which is clearly theirs. The only thing they have been able to suggest so far is that my friends move the light which is in their study as this may be interfering with the broadband connection! I've never heard of this . . . anyone else? I'm unsure whether the reason the feedback has been generally good is that those who have had problems are completely at the mercy of talktalk and unable to even access this poll!0

They are a nightmare and whatever you do never have the audacity to move house! Would strongly suggest that people never, ever consider them for this service.
Phoned and cancelled after they told me it would be months before they could supply BB, despite me telling them several times well in advance that I was moving. Told them that they would not get their cancellation fee and they were fine with that, cancelled the DD and haven't heard from them.

I have to admit that it took longer than I'd hoped to set up my Talk Talk broadband, which was frustrating at the time, but since getting connected everything has been fine (for 6 months now).
We were on dial up internet before switching, so whilst we were waiting for broadband we weren't any worse off than before, and as the £9.99 calling package worked out cheaper than our monthly calls, we've effectively got free broadband and reduced our phone bill. Bonus.
If you can live with an initial broadband connection delay I would definitely recommend it (why not order it just before you go on a 2 week holiday, and reduce the impact of the wait :rotfl: ).0 -
I switched to Talk Talk, in mid april 2006. We were connected and running by June 2006. I was always able to track my order online and phone them free to assess where we were up to.
I have always had excellent customer services from them. For £21.50 a month we get line rental, unlimited landline calls to anywhere at any time in the uk, unlimited international calls to many countries. We phone Spain, Germany and France lots, Unlimited Broadband. The speed of broadband is 1.1 Mbps but they will go up to 8Mbps if your line allows it.
It is a fantastic package costing us £250 per year, no worries about phone use for kids and abroad and no worries about internet use.
Our previous package with phone through BT together = £10.50 month line rental, call charges, vat etc approximately £25 per month = £300 per year. Broadband with Wanadoo cost £21 per month = £252 per year >> total costs being £552 per year and we had to be very careful about phone calls, internet use, and definately no calls abroad.
With Talk Talk we manage to keep the cost down by:
Never use our phone for 0870 etc numbers and always find an alternative landline via the "say no to 0870" site.
We never use our landline for mobiles.
We never use our landline for direct enquiries as it is free on the internet.
As you can see my view of Talk Talk is 100% and I would not hesitate to recomend them to anybody.Oh how I dream............0 -
Hi
I use Pipex homecall for line rental, 8mb broadband, home phone, it costs £29.99 per month for the whole job lot, oh and the broadband is unlimited. I have been with them 3 years and have had no problems at all. If you find a better deal being offered elsewhere, call them up and hey presto they will match it!! Also with the landline you can ring any uk landline included in the price as many times as you like.
