Queenie's Welcome Poem

Options
Queenie I thought that poem was great, nice and simple and with useful links in it too. I wanted to reply on the thread but it has been closed.

Anyway I thought it was great.

You're a poet and don't you know it! (Sorry......:D

I opened a thread today to welcome our newer members, it contained a poem with links intertwined. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=344981

Partly as a response to the issues raised in this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=343648
and partly because as a long standing member .. I *wanted* to welcome fresh faces and, in a fun lighthearted manner, let them into the secret of where the treasuretroves of information could be found.

    Now, I notice it's been closed. :confused::confused::confused:

Is helping out other members and being friendly not appropriate (let's face it, it was certainly ON TOPIC!) ????

I know the BG's are inundated with lots of extra work and so I'm not sure if I should feel flattered that it was closed so quickly or offended?

Thank you, yes, I've seen it's been closed too, so I've also begun a thread asking why?

    Reposting for Fran:-

It's lovely to see so many new faces on the Old Style board, many as a result of Martin's "Thrifty Ways ..." book.

Some time back, moggins posted a lovely poem (sorry moggins, can you repost it, I can't find it? :( ) Inspired, I also wrote one.

A New Year on OS, lots of new faces ... I thought I'd repost it, (even added a line or two :o )
Welcome to ALL our Old Styler’s
    Oldies, newbies, (lurkers too) :hello:
If you’re after ‘Grannies’ hints and tips
This place is just for you!
If you thought that good ole vinegar
Was to spice up fish n chips
Then click on Save on cleaning
And get cleaning with those tips!
If you feel it’s all too cliquey
(Or feel left out in the cold L )
    Dive in and introduce yourself
    Get posting! Do be bold!
If you need to know an answer
    (Baking, cooking, gardening too)
Or some other “home” based topic
Then our Old Style’s here for you!
    Check out the Indexed Collections
    And the Mega Index too
    But grab yourself a cuppa
So you can have a good look through!
If you want to chat about your OS day
    Or ponder any excesses
    The OS Daily Thread exists
    To talk of our successes
    Flylady’s Cleaning Challenge
May be more your cup of tea
To list your tasks, “To Do’s” of the day
And to make ‘home’ clutter free!
Domestic bills you’ll find may be reduced
    (Gas, electric, telephone )
Or you can vent about bad service
If you feel it deserves a moan!
No matter what your reasons for coming
    Whether Debt/Savings (or DIY!)
Martin’s supplied a variety of forums
    Where your query/answer will apply.
If “fun and frolics” kind of banter
Is what brightens up your day
Pop to The Money Savers Arms
Share a joke; enjoy your stay. :D
    For more ‘meaningful’ conversations
If that is more your style
    Wander over to Discussion Time
For topics more  … versatile ;)
If you feel you do not gel straight off
    Feel ignored? (Or confidence waivers?)
    Please remember Martin’s mantra
Be nice to your fellow Money-Savers!”

    Now disappeared?

Oh hang on, perhaps it's been merged to the old one .. pity, because I'd updated the poem as I said in the thread - shame really, could have spent my time doing other things.

It appears to have been deleted now?

Perhaps you could re-post it on here if you have a copy?

It was closed for a moment while we searched out the original welcome thread to add it to.

We often do this to save getting threads tangled up - usually we're quick enough for you guys not to notice.

    This time we weren't - sorry :)

I'll merge this one in there too in a few minutes.

it's been merged with the old one ... so now it looks a bit stupid since it's been updated and reads out of context.

Mind you, those original ones were written when there was discord on these forums so if that's the impression that is to be priority .... ;)

It had been UPDATED from the one that was posted when there was all that discord in OS when the two original one's were posted squeaky.

It all reads out of context now, seeing as it is NOW that we have an influx of new members and to whom it was aimed at :(:(:(:(
