So glad I saw this thread. My special Ipad fund has now been changed to a 'something yet to be decided' fund...

Turn it into an Asus Transformer fund :)

Decent keyboard, widescreen, runs flash, dedicated tablet OS, fast.

Oh it is almost exactly the same as a PC....

Apart from the fact that, as standard, it is a touch screen tablet with a smaller screen and no physical keyboard, a completely different operating system, no CD/DVD drive and the inability to run Flash...

    For starters......
It is a PC, but just has a different interface to Windows.

Just had a look at that. Very interesting, much cheaper and I like the keyboard addition.

    Thanks.

I've had my iPad (1) for well over a year, since just after they launched. I love it! Ok, it doesn't do everything a laptop does, but I knew that before I bought it. I have just come back from a two week holiday where I used my iPad on the plane and whilst there - I read books, played games, watched movies and music videos, listened to my iPod, surfed the net, checked my bank accounts, read my emails.... The list goes on! All on a wi-fi device a fraction of the weight of a laptop and much more enjoyable to use IMO

I'm going to wait until until Windows 8 comes out.

Early vids, show it to be totally touch screen friendly, which means no doubt it will be great on a tablet touchscreen PC and your tablet should be fully compatible with your desktop.

Sure some will go yuk windows, but Windows 7 is easily the best windows system, but just not touch friendly enough to have on a touchscreen device IMO.

Looking at the early vids, Windows 8 will improve on 7, in particular touchscreen wise.

I have an Itouch, for music, vids and gaming and so see absolutely no point in getting an Ipad whatsoever.

Most people who buy Ipads, do so cause they like the look of them, never mind the fact that some basics such as flash and usb connectivity are lacking.

A bit like those techincally challenged, who buy a Celeron 2.93ghz processor computer, cause the case looks nice and it must be faster than a I7 2.66ghz processor in that horrible black case.

I am not technically challenged in the slightest, and I too have an iPod touch. The difference in playing games, watching movies, reading books etc on an iPad screen as opposed to a small iPhone/iPod touch screen to me is insurmountable. You wouldn't know what I mean unless you have spent time using it, not just a quick look in a store. But each to their own! Whatever floats your boat is fine by me :)

I think Windows 8 will be a flop and it will be Windows 9 that gets it right. Microsoft seem to have developed a pattern of releasing a really good OS, with a poorly received one in between.

Windows 98 (Good) > Windows ME (Rubbish) > Windows XP (Very Good) > Windows Vista (Rubbish) > Windows 7 (Excellent) > Windows 8 (?)
