    Hiya again!!

Iv phoned the council and the man dealing with the fence issue is on holiday, no surprise there, so iv phone my local councilor who has been helping me with the issue, just to make sure someone knows that the fence blew down, as i know what the `witch` is like and is likely to say we pulled it down!!!

Just prepared tea, pork medalions with musrooms and onions and gravy all now on low in the slow cooker yummy, going to have it with steamed leeks, carrots and sweetcorn, and buttery mash Yummy.!!

Had a quick tidy round and picked up all the cans that have blown out of the recycle box all over the garden, what with the fence and beer cans everywherer(box hasnt been emptyied since new year party!!) it looks like a right old dump!!LOL.

Hugs to all who need them.

Nothing much else to do. OH will take the parcel to the post office for me, so I am hoping to have a 'no spend' day again today, doing quite well so far..... friend owes me £10 for stuff I got her from Wilko's.... came out of my housekeeping, so need to get it back before I go fruit shopping next week.

    I've been Money Tipped!
    :hello: Morning!

Hello Stormy! Fingers crossed that dd is as ok as can be today. (((hugs)))

((((Hugs)))) to Queenie - what a thoughtful thing to do, your friends will really appreciate such kindness.

Hope those with shingles/chickenpox are coping ok (((hugs)))

The postman has just delivered a 1955 copy of Good Housekeeping (definately pre owned so fits into our buying less regime;)) that I have bought from ebay (my Mums copy was falling apart) and I now have her wonderful recipe for ice cream!:D It is an incredible book, in great condition for it's age (was a school prize) and includes a couple of lesson plans (owned by a domestic science teacher?) one is for using a pressure cooker. It's a step by step book and hopefully I can now fill in any gaps in my domestic science education.:j

Yesterday for the first time I roasted some pointed sweet peppers with red onions, sweet potatoes, thyme and rosemary and they were lovely, really sweet. Will definately do again and a great way to use up the vegetables.

Today we will have 2 of the salmon portions I popped into the freezer in foil parcels with some prawns and a splash of white wine.

Very dark and overcast here so I am most definately staying in! Besides I have Dirk (Starbuck) to watch now!;)

    Good morning everyone,
I hope you all don't mind me joining in! Today is the first day back at school for my youngest daughter, 11, since her Dad, my hubby John suddenly passed away on 22nd December. She was fine going off, it was me that was blubbering like an idiot.
I think I will miss her today as we have been inseperable since the tragedy. I'm not back in work until next monday, so I will be here for her if the school calls. I'm going to ring them later on to make sure she is ok. I want to ring them already but it's only 20 mins since the school day started!!!
I have to go to John's doctors today to take back the blood pressure and diabetic machines we had off them on loan. That will be horrible to say the least.
I might nip into Asda too for a few bits, that will be difficult because I worked for them for 8 years as a CS manager and a few of them came to the funeral, but I feel I need to go in and thank them for their support.
On the bright side (although looking out of the window, it's the dull side), I have prepared meals for the next 2 days...
Chicken, bacon and pasta bake and a chicken korma in the slow cooker.
Have a good day everyone and well done on the scan, a new life begins, that is lovely,
    Stormy

Your words made me shed a tear. What a kind lady you are thinking of others whilst you are grieveing.

  • Just a quick one, while I'm at my desk sharing the banana muffins. Queenie, (((hugs))) for you.

Stormy, read some of your post and my thoughts are with you.

Ice, when shall we have that meet? I'll PM you later in the week.

Please no more talk of fences. Mine was wrenching its way off its fixings as I left: think it'll be horizontal by the time I get home. The year we moved it, it was blown down while we were having a party on Christmas eve, and did some damage to DH's car. No cars there today.

  • Morning everyone, :hello:

Stormybay ((((hugs)))) and welcome. You will find that everyone is very nice here. Please stay and let us get to know you. Let us know how DD's first day back at school went. I'm sure she will be offered lots of support and will be fine.

Queenie haven't read yesterday's thread yet but (((( hugs )))) to you and your friends. My thoughts are with you all - and Stormybay and her family too.

ageandjo My DS and DD loved the Natural History Museum - they also loved Hamleys too. Though Hamleys could turn out to be an expensive trip. :D;) The London Eye is fabulous for the great views of London.

Valentine your post brought back so many memories. I too only believed I was really pregnant when I saw the images on the screen. Congratulations.

Well, like some of the other teenagers today, DS announced he needed his PE kit today (I'm sure he gets PE on Wednesdays) then threw a strop when it wasn't just ready and waiting for him. Turns out he has managed to lose his rugby shirt, football boots and the boot bag. I am getting very tired of his carelessness. He knows that I will bail him out at every turn so doesn't seem to care very much about his school stuff. He was given a final warning today. Find the missing stuff - OR ELSE!

DD has called her new hamster Hazel. Last night she managed to jump out of DD's hands and ran under the sofa. She was there for the best part of 15-20 minutes and DD was getting very upset thinking she would never come out again. She is definitely a very lively hamster when she gets going. Maybe we should re-think the name to Speedy or something.

No particular plans today but I will definitely be doing some more clearing out. I like that I am beginning to see some space in almost all the rooms now so that is an incentive.

(((hugs)))) to all who need or want one. Have a good day. xx

ageandjo, I forgot to say, Loubee beat me to it with recommending the Science Museum (lots of interactive exhibits suitable for his age group, and it's also walking distance from Harrods). And anniebooklover is right - the London Eye is worth a trip. Not sure what it costs these days, you could google it. I've been on it 3 times (twice during the day and once in the dark) but not for years, and as I can see the London Eye from my living room window, that means I should be able to spot my living room window from the London Eye :D

You could also go on a river boat trip to and from Greenwich, which I don't think is wildly expensive, though if it was pouring with rain it wouldn't be as much fun.

What sort of things is he interested in?

Good morning all. This is my 2nd attempt to post as it just seemed to hang on me mid way through the message. For some reason though I can't use the format tools.

    Anyway:

Stormybay - so sad to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.

It was really blowing a gale when I left for work this morning but it does seem to have settled down a bit - and at least its not raining.

2nd day at work and it was even harder to get up this morning than yesterday. Just put the wm on before I left and made my lunch. Other than that I just couldn't be bothered. Dinner tonight is pasta with mince and tomatoes and I remembered to take the mince out of the freezer.

Hopefully I will be able to get at least one item onto ebay tonight. We still can't find the lead that connects the camera to the laptop so dh took the camera to work as he can load the pics onto his computer somehow and then send them me through e-mail. I can then access my e-mail at home and download the pics onto the laptop and use them on e-bay. A bit long-winded and convoluted but if it works.........

    Have a good day everyone.
