I may just have to join you...

My BMI is tipping into the Obese category now! EEK! This year has been my most hectic year work and social life wise. I reckon my recent weight gain has been down to a few things - booze, lack of exercise, portion sizes and a crazy diet! Sometimes I can barely eat anything in a day, others I eat like a pig (usually when there's booze involved). I'm going to down/out alcohol and work lunches that I buy, I'll make them instead.

I've just moved into my new place, so I'm going to treat it as a new start. It occured to me how unfit I am when moving boxes and also when I was at Reading Festival, traipsing through the mud and jumping up and down to the bands.

I've researched local gyms and apparantly there's one near me, a council one too, so no yearly subscriptions! I'm going to try it out - if I can get to the other side of the dual carriageway that is. I need some motivation!

I had that problem with OH eating the same as your OH, then I had a LBM, and stopped buying them, so if he wanted them he had to go and buy them, I know he is a little bit lazy and he doesn't go, so win win.

I weighed myself before I went to sleep and I'm a whopping 10 stone 10! And for a short person that's not good! I think my 'ideal' weight is suppose to be 8.5 stone!

I've done diets before and been successful, I've changed lifestyles in the past too! But then other things happen. I need to start exercising on a regular basis and stick with it! Either swimming, the gym or a club of some sort. I use to do Tae Kwon Do when I was a kid, so may consider doing it again!
  • Morning All,

Just checking in to say hi to anyone new:wave:

Finally got my backside out for a run yesterday. I have stopped smoking and I am finding breathing a little hard whilst running but just grinned and beared it. I was alot slower than normal but managed to get myself round it! I joined myfittnesspal (username is kahunababy on there too) which I am really enjoying, only just started using it yesterday but I like the idea of keeping an eye on what I am putting in (eating) and taking out (exercising). Think I might see if I can lay my hands on a copy of the 30 day shred, sounds like my sort of thing. Anyone have any idea where the best place to buy it is?
    Just little old me!
  • Right - my starting weight is 12st8lb. Here goes nothing!

  • :wave:Morning everybody!

Well, i'm very sad to report that i have put on 4lbs. I thought i'd done pretty well on the food front at Disney but i guess the scales don't lie.

Boot camp tonight despite the still achy feet. I now have a weight gain of 2lbs for the month so far so am going to work extra hard for the remaining two and half weeks.;)

Well done on taking the plunge! Your mission by the weekend (should you choose to accept it :rotfl:) is to get into that gym!

Weighed in today at 8st 12 1/2, so quite pleased with that. I went swimming for an hour and a half and went to the gym for 40 minutes- 30 on the treadmill and 10 on the cross trainer. Had to call it a day though as my athsma started playing up. No swimming this morning because I was soooo tired and I don't actually have to be in uni today so I thought I'd have a lie in. I'll go on my exercise bike later tonight though and it will be back to swimming tomorrow. I also have to go into town today as I need a new bag, one big enough to hold my uni stuff, gym stuff and swim stuff. Not having much luck finding one so far.

Kahunababy The Jillian Michaels DVD is £5.99 on Amazon (free delivery). I imagine it will be about the same on play or hmv. I was thinking about getting a copy too but I've never done an exercise video in my life lol...

By Saturday?! I'm working every day for the next 9 days! I've already got the free pass thing, I just need to book a time. The gym only is only £20 a month, not sure if there's a minimum contract length though.

I've figured out how to get there, I need to take a bus for 1 or 2 stops to get to the other side of the dual carriageway! There are no footpaths without walking in a big circle.

This is my problem I make excuses for things, and also have very little time to myself it seems! And when I do have time, I don't have the money, and vice versa!

I must make the effort to go
  • I caved in and weighed this afternoon, while I was in Boots. I've lost a whopping 8 lbs :j I can't believe it!! I know it'll be much slower from here on in, but I thrilled with this as a start.
