We came to our senses and stopped the boiling. Boiling has no place in our Fridays - the evening when the horrible burden of the week should be lifting. Boiling and Dolmio would just grind us further into the ground and make everything seem worthless.

Luckily the Co-Op had a good 2for1 on pizzas for the kids and Mrs B got her curry and extras for a few quid thanks to another special offer. And Lindeman's Shiraz was half-price. It would have been rude not to.

I know my BMI and total debt will suck in the morning, but rather a sucky Saturday morning than a lame Friday night. Forgive us our trespasses against the MSE doctrine but we Bloaters are mere beginners at this game....

Just being nosey now - what happened to that half cooked pasta :rotfl:

Wow - am truly amazed by the disparity in the interest rates on our various CCs. Luckily (cos there sure wasn't any judgement on our part) the ones with the biggest balances have the lowest rates (15% ish), and the one with the lowest balance has the highest rate (34%) so we'll be snowballing that one into submission come payday. Can't recommend this highly enough to anyone else yet to snowball.
  • When i was sorting out all my debts at the beginning of the year i got a fair few charges put on, i rang the banks concerned (barclays, hsbc & santander :o) and every single one of them refunded my charges! Apparantly (according to barclays) they are supposed to refund up to 2 charges a year no questions?! Perhaps worth a try? :money:

Good luck with giving up the booze in the evening, i've done this without changing my diet very much and i've steadily lost weight each week :T

  • This is definitely turning into a lost weekend - Friday evening vanished and today appears to have been Sunday - a heavy leaden pall around the house, rubbish weather and Brighton getting beaten. Plus I've been up and down to the local shops god knows how many times for little things that were forgotten - like dry cleaning, sausages, bread, yawn.
Me and the kids are having a slumber party downstairs while Mrs B goes off for some leaving do, so we're all pyjama'd and dressing gowned up - very cosy.
Next door neighbour told me this morning he was due to have the outside of his house painted so I moved the Bloater Motors further down the driveway to avoid any splash-related violence. Just thought I'd pop out now to move them back and of course it coincides with everyone on the flipping street suddenly being outside, so I looked like some real dandy (or !!!!!) getting out of the car in my dressing gown and crocs. Felt like telling them I go for a run every morning at 4.20 but that would have looked a bit defensive.

In this neck of the woods, going outside in pjs seems to be nearly compulsory. I'm the odd one out in my local asda where everyone else seems to be wearing pyjamas and ugg-ish boots. I'd assume that your neighbours think you're the height of fashion and any looks are in awe and admiration! If not, come to Glasgow. You'll fit right in!

Enjoy your slumber party and bonus sunday,

    V

I always run my older kids to work early in the morning dressed in my PJs and Uggs. I often wonder what would happen if i was pulled over and asked to step out of the car or if my car broke down?
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I'm glad it helped :j:j:j Isn't it amazing, that disparity?

What you *might* do now is see if you can open a new card, with a long-term offer on. It will charge 2% or something as an opening fee, but if it charges 0% for 15 - 18 months, then a much, much higher percentage of your money is going on capital repayment, not interest payments. The link below is to Martin's article on the main site about doing this:

Hope you had a nice evening in, and MrsB had a nice evening out!
