My mother always swears by rubbing Fairy Liquid into stains before they go into the washing machine... 99% of the time this works, but this is usually when the stain is fresh - I don't know if this will work in your situation, as you've already done 3 washes. It certainly wouldn't do any harm though.

Biro pen off leather - hairspray, but be very careful! Use at own risk of course. Spray on (close to it so doesn't get everywhere) leave few seconds, wipe and repeat as required, say about five times max before washing off completely, leave it a few days if it's still noticable do again (I only had to do it with marker but biro came straight off) it works but can be lethal if you're not careful and may even take colour out. Wipe off well with water afterwards. Found when my son drew on mine within 2 days of me getting it, hairspray now in my cleaning cupboard! If you want to try hidden area first just incase, but I've used it for 3 years on bad stains on mine and it's never damaged it.

Grease, few to try aswell as Fairy, shampoo, Coca Cola, vinegar, talc (rub in allow to dry and wash out)

Hairspray might work on the grease stain too, I use it for all kinds, cheap stuff is usually the best IMO.
One day I might be more organised...........

The washing up liquid works wonders if you put it on before you wash the item. Unfortunately you have washed your jeans 3 times. You have actually sealed the stain into the fabric.!!! Great hint for next time though, it can go onto any fabric that can be washed silk, denim etc.
  • Try this at your own risk.........not guaranteeing it'll remove the stain completely from a cream sofa but it certainly works on leather for me!!

First, try dabbing with a piece of cotton wool dipped in meths or white spirits - organic solvents should dissolve biro ink. You'll probably need to wipe it down with leather cleaner afterwards to clear the smell. The other thing that could be tried is a stain remover called White Wizard, not really Old Style I know but it really is very good. Used it on my leather jacket and it came up lovely.
Life in this world is, as it were, a sojourn in a cave. What can we know of reality? For all we can see of the true nature of existence is, shall we say, no more than bewildering and amusing shadows cast upon the inner wall of the cave by the unseen blinding light of absolute truth, from which we may or may not deduce some glimmer of veracity, and we as troglodyte seekers of wisdom can only lift our voices to the unseen and say humbly "Go on, do deformed rabbit again.....it's my favourite". © Terry Pratchett in "Small Gods"

I can remember the old remedy for getting grease out of clothes was to iron it between sheets of brown paper. Problem today would be to get the old style brown paper! However, I think the logic is that is heats up the grease and the paper absorbs it, maybe towel roll would suffice? Worth a try anyway.

Grease on clothes - apply talcum powder liberally to affected area, leave for a few days then wash as normal - works for me :T

I've used the talc after clothes have been washed & it's worked too.

    Hi

I bought a lovely new cotton top, wore it the other day, then handwashed it carefully. Came to iron it today and it has what looks like a big grease stain right in the middle of it Any tips for getting rid of it ? I'm not 100% sure it's grease, but that's what it looks like - don't remember spilling anything down me when I wore it So mad 'cos I love this top

Also - I posted a thread yesterday asking for tips on thickening stews etc and got some great replies. I managed to press the thanks button for all who replied but when I when tried to post a thank you message, everything crashed on me and now I can't find my thread !
Anyway - just wanted to say thanks to those who replied if anyone is reading :D

    Cheers
