When I rang the store I'd reserved items in to check they had them, I was told they aren't honouring reserve and collect and it's 'first come, first served'. I hope it isn't the same in all the stores but, if it is, don't celebrate until you physically have the items.

    Poor customer service B&Q.:(

same thing has just happend to me !! am furious ! I could have bought the item online but chose to collect instead ! now they ring to say they didnt have it afterall and its sold out online

not happy and am ringing to complain tomorow

I think that the reserve and collect system is flawed, by many things.

It needs human interaction to take an item from the shop floor and put it to one side. So if Human can't find/be arsed/wants it for themself or if a shopper gets there first then it is not reserved.
Secondly it will allow more than one person to reserve items at the same time - so allocating too much stock.
Thirdly - it takes into account display items.
Fourthly the system is not designed to work well when there are periods of high volume. I am sure that most stores do not get 200+ R+R in one day, but we have seen this today.
Fifth the system is for reservation the next day. So even if you reserve whilst it is shut overnight, if no one goes to get your order till 3pm that afternoon there is plenty of time for it to get sold, although at 9am that morning there coudl well have been stock.
There is only so much that B+Q can do about this, but they really should put a big warning on the website saying

"Even though we are saying it is reserved, actually there is a chance we can't do that, so your best getting your backside to the shop ASAP to make sure you do get it!"
  • went to the peterborough one around 9.30 this morning none of the camping stuff left even though it showed they had some on the site but when i got home it wouldnt allow me to reserve anything or order online. over heard 3 people on their phones saying the items werent there

Thanks OP - I have just collected two garden benches, were £40 each now £10. Very pleased as we had been waiting to buy some when the end of season sales were on but missed out with Tesco, Argos etc.
