I think it's regarded as a local procedure. TBH by the time they get me pricked and prodded for a general; bloods, cannula etc it's more faff than the local.
I'm telling myself I survived 12 biopsies the other week, I can do this.
My cunning plan Beanie (say if its mad) is
1) Monday - friends comes round and shows me some relaxation techniques.
2) Tuesday - go to hypnotherapist for 2 hours and she helps me relax and shows me how to get to a happy place.
3) Wednesday - take lorazepam when I get to hospital. Talk hind legs off nurse so she holds my hand. Go to happy place with eyes shut or watch ultra sound. Over before I know it. Come home and have nice strong painkillers.
4) Thursday - Play it by ear but plan to work from home if ok. Have lazy day if feeling sorry for myself.
5) Friday - Repeat Thursday.
Boss says I can work from home as much as I want. She also says I've to take it really easy. I feel very guilty not giving 100% especially as I'm a contractor but I've not much time left before I'll be off for 6 months and no income.

my bil had a Hickman put in under local, and what from i can remember he thought it was ok, i seem to think they keep you well drugged up. it served its purpose for him, tbh he was so weak and poorly he wasn't up to a general anaesthetic iykwim. good luck xxx'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0

Worked from home today. Got through all the calls and will create a handover pack for my replacement who's joining in a couple of weeks.
No dates from hospital yet. If they count the 14th as diagnosis day then this is day 14. Guidelines say 31 days so lets count it down.
Was incredibly stupid. Felt no pain yesterday but very very tired so thought I'll stop painkillers so I'm nice and alert for tomorrow. 1am and the pain comes back. Taken me all day to get it back under control. Its now moved into my upper arm and shoulder as well so I assume it's growing against a nerve.
