I've felt recently that the popularity of the SNP isn't due to a pressing urge amongst most Scots to get rid of the UK, but simple relief at the fact we have another option to vote for after the disaster for Lib Dems of the coalition and the complete meltdown caused by Labour. It's not like we're going to vote Tory :rotfl:2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Tenant is now ramping up her attempts to intimidate me. She claims to have retained a lawyer. Interesting quote from her text..."Solicitor says you can't touch the deposit and you have to take me to court for the rent arrears." First time she's actually admitted there are rent arrears.
I've pointed out that I can offset the deposit against rent arrears. I can also show exactly what sums of money were received and when, she has been asked repeatedly to evidence any additional sums I may missed to ensure it's a true representation. All she does is scream about the deposit and demand I increase the rent arrears by £200 and transfer the money to the deposit.
If I'm being really dumb about this, will someone tell me please.
Above is from early May. Received a 4 page letter kicking all this off again today...but not in tenant's handwriting, not her signature and not from her forwarding address. I've written her a letter (to the forwarding address) explaining that she's the victim of attempted identity theft and she may want to check her bank accounts because someone who has her council payment records but none of the many arrears letters she was sent is now claiming to be her!!
Also copied in Council so they can see I'm a responsible citizen and the same fraudster may contact them also. Advised I'd only accept correspondence now through CAb, Shelter, Solicitor etc as I need to protect her from these terrible fraudsters. My money is on the sister who loaned her the deposit which she lost and kicked off at me. Even she eventually admitted that if her sister received rent and spent rent then that really wasn't my fault!!
Then I came out of work to a parking ticket because sticky stuff on back of valid ticket out of the machine had failed, so letter of appeal off to them.
Then contract issues at work...
Then met lovely friend for tea and lovely agent for more tea but still in shaky, too-much-adrenaline mood.
And it's Husky's birthday...she's 7 and we're all having chicken for birthday tea. She's had one pressie and another after dinner.
I wish tenants didn't wind me up so much. They cause so much hassle and then just walk away when you prove they're wrong but have spend 10 hours on the paperwork.
Also trying to lock down interest rates on 8 mortgages which involves ex and him having every document vetted to ensure I'm not diddling him. I even had to write a process between him, me and the bank as they can only process one at a time.

I agree. This is going to be a very expensive lesson to every taxpayer north and south of the border on what happens when you vote in a one-policy party. We'll never vote Tory, Lib-Dems bedded the enemy, Greens and we'll be knitting our own vegan haggis, SNP want to re-erect Hadrian's Wall, Scottish Socialist want to repaint Clydeside Red, BNP would have trouble finding a non-white minority big enough to harangue and Labour have simply lost the plot. Monster Raving Loony Party (Northern Branch) required.:rotfl::A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -

Well said.
I live in a really strong Lib Dem region and our MSP's do work really hard but a vote for anything else where I am is in reality wasted. The two guys are popular and work hard for our region, but I don't think anyone ever expected them (their party) to join the tories.
Mind you where I live there's quite a few who want to be devolved from Scotland.
I just can't see how it all can work at the moment. Or like you've all said how fundamentals like currency, EU membership etc can almost be taken for granted when the nuts and bolts of it all aren't really very clear.
I'll shut up now. Its interesting times.

I think you may have a point there. Don't you think the country being run on MSE principles; living within your means, helping each other out and sharing success, would be a fine blueprint for any country. This amused me - I went oot for tea to a hotel in the town recently (three courses for £15, very MSE!) that was having a vegan night and my starter was a vegan haggis spring roll - bl**dy tasty it was too
Sounds yum. What else did you have?:A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
