Thank you all. Didn't get up til and heading up again at a sensible time.

Frustrated now with Santander...or am I being thick.

Offset mortgage was almost fully offset by end October...£220k down and £13k to go. So Novembers payment on 1st reflected that with £110 interest and £120 added to offset tally. Mid Nov I lodged the last payment (wouldn't let me overpay) so amount due and amount saved balanced exactly. I phoned them up and asked what next because I owe you about £20 interest (end Oct to mid Nov). She said just leave it and they'll take an adjusted amount this month.

So Santander tomorrow (according to my Santander account) will seize £230 as normal, £220 in interest and I now have a balance of £9 due to them. They've emptied all of the money out of the offset and paid off the mortgage, exactly what they said they wouldn't do.

So confused...what are they doing? Please explain my nuttiness here.

Hey peeps, haven't been about much here or t'other place as I've been enjoying some cave time :)

I don't eat fish but even I have heard of the famous Anstruther fish an chippy, have to admit when I was there ... Oh many many moons ago the smell did have my mouth watering and I was tempted to try it :)

Loving the discussions re independence as well... It's great to read about people becoming engaged in their countries future ... I have my opinion of it all ( won't say though :) ) but am loving the fact you are interested in the subject matter, still bloody waiting for my hard copy of the white paper to arrive, will email them again this week I think

There's part of me that wishes I liked Dr Who so that I could share in the excitement ... But try as I do I just don't get it

Sorry to hear there's a few still poorly, hope your all feeling better soon and resting as much as possible

KJ I hope the next jobbie your horrible tenant has is a hedgehog :)

They've paid off the mortgage, kissjenn? When you didn't want them to? Thats an *enormous* mistake to make! I've no idea about what they may have done, or what corrective action you can take - all I'd say, which I'm sure you know, is to write down the sequence of events so far, put in writing everything you say to them, and get their statements in writing too, even if you have to send an email saying "you said this, this and this".

Hello El! Oh dear, sounds like your view is a bit different and you don't want to rock the boat ... Loving the 'hedgehog jobbie' tho :D

Just spoke to Santander. Between 4am and now they turned the payments round to £9.00 is paid off and that's mortgage at zero and I'm getting a refund of £220. No more payments will be taken and I've access to all funds for next 15 years. That'll do for a Monday morning :D

Hi El. Rock away. It's good getting everyone's thoughts and you'll be clued up once you get your white paper.

Honest not wanting to rock the boat or not not rock the boat :)

I am truly loving the discussion .. I'm loving that as a nation ( Scotland, England, Wales and Ireland ) we are all discussing the subject, yes it is Scotland that decides but it will have an effect on every other country as well so love that we are engaged in talks, I love that people are not just dismissing the subject either :)

I find it hilarious some of the media driven drivel that has came about as well, the funniest one I've heard is if Scotland go in dependant they won't get Dr Who ... I hope it's true and that they take away strictly, X factor etc as well

There is a lot of myth and hearsay going about tbh and it can be hard to wade through the jobbies ( I think is going to be my word for the week :) ) but hopefully no one fell for the Dr Who one ... Or the oil of Ulay one as well :)

Can't wait till my white paper comes so I can get stuck in with my highlighter :)

And yes KJ hedgehogs to the lot of em :)

WOOOO HOOOO to getting Santander sorted ... Delighted for you :)

Can I just say though from a personal perspective I haven't personally heard any anti English vitriol from anyone with the exception of those that say that those that want independence only want it cause they hate the English ... Not one independant supporter has said anything anti English to me

Just saying cause I noticed someone else mentioned that they had heard some anti English stuff

That's not to say that it hasn't happened ... Just to say I haven't heard it ... With the possible exception of my brother who is racist but he doesn't really count as he lives in England an is married to an English girl and has an English son ... Why she doesn't slap him silly is beyond me lol

Laughed out loud at the Dr Who/Strictly nonsense :rotfl:

More power to your elbow, El - but I do have the proviso that I want a vote about any currency union with a newly independent Scotland - not a vote on Scottish independence, of course, but a vote on any proposed currency union. Given the fiasco in the Eurozone these last few years, you can probably guess why
