Can't wait for the day that Tesco corporate policy is to close sites...That'll be the same day I win the lottery. Without buying a ticket
Out of interest do you know why the Tesco on Oxford St London closed? Were the rents really that high? Surely in terms of turnover it can't have been much higher than any of the other prime London sites.
The company I work for has several sites on that street, which are all viable.
Idly curious, as usual0 -

Murdoch and all his dirty little henchmen are below contempt. Pushing the blame onto the fans has also long been a mainstay of the filth too.
Can you beleive that Liverpool council are to invite kelvin mackenzie
This is for a different thread. This is TSECO discussion thread. I don't think this thread can do it justice0 -

In my local area in a new developement there was once a Co-Op at the top and a IIRC One-Stop at the bottom.
The one stop is now an Express, which is actually better. The Co-Op was purchased by Tesco and immediately closed. This forced customers to use the Express or travel further afield, thus saving Tesco the expense of operating at this location and driving up sales at the Express
Sadly, I doubt that this is uncommon. It's standard business practice. I have been involved in such things in past lives. It feels different when you're own job is threatened, but in cases like this Tesco is just flexing it's chequebook which bulges ever greater.0 -
spa2k wrote:If i have interpreted it correctly ben means that tesco go into a high street with an express store, take all the trade forcing other shops to close and then shut the express store thus forcing consumers into the larger superstores.
Nice theory but not quite one that i subscribe to i am afraid - i thought their sole purpose was to make money not to decimate trade.
Ben, out of interest, are you a tesco shareholder?[/quote]
Do you have any comments on landlocking for instance?

There's mispriced coke all over the place, can't believe that the 4 stores I visited this afternoon, and the two I visited tonight had all put "flashed £7.25" packs above a £6.95 while sel......5 quick and easy RandRs, and one difficult one,(she was so nasty, I couldn't bring myself to just walk away...slap on wrist) where she rang HO......and she was annoyed at the outcome.Couponing....."every little hurts"

I had a battle over the coke, the store insisted I had bought the wrong product even though they were both 24 can packs of coke. with the end aproaching I had nothing to loose I was in a store I dont normally visit so I contacted head office and they agreed witht he store as there are 2 sels the £7.25 sel and the £6.95 both sate p/m or price marked. I left empty handed and not feeling 100% i called it a day.0

All mine were PM £6.95, but I argued "I wasnt to know what that meant", but in all mine, there was only one price, the £6.95.Couponing....."every little hurts"

2x colgate tooth paste.....£2,28 each bogof
total on bill before bogof.........£57.58
total after bogof .........£49.54
