If the insurance advert was showing you how to commit fraud, then yes, it would.

Of course not, it's promoting the benefits of the customer service proposition. The abuse is the perversion that is inherent in those people that seek to abuse it.

When you see an insurance advert, it's not an open invitation to commit insurance fraud on a mass scale is it?

To answer your question - you do not see insurance being advertised by showing people making fraudulent claims.

However Tesco chose to advertise the refund and retain policy by promoting someone trying to take advantage of it.

    Simple as that.

Been a nice day today, wonder what tomorrow will bring.........
    Couponing....."every little hurts"

Half of the people can be part right all of the time, Some of the people can be all right part of the time.
But all the people can't be all right all the time. .........I think Abraham Lincoln said that.

Lol! I am shocked by what you're telling me, I get on with all the staff in my store and I feel disgusted that they would feel swearing at any customer is acceptable. I would never do such a thing, I am friendly, remember!:p

So a television commercial portraying a customer actively seeking out misprices for the purpose of claiming a refund and retain wouldn't be considered as promoting the aforementioned abuse?

Exactly, with the implied message being search all you want, as a customer you can be assured that you find find you're being overcharged in our store.

Oh yeah, Since I started to check my receipt, I've been overcharged by hundreds if not thousands of pounds by this giant.

Dress it up how you want Mr. T. The change of policy is an admission of GUILT!

    Are you barking mad?

Just 'cos an advert shows that something could occur and there is a benefit to a policy is not an open invitation to trawl for the problem.

Same as an advert for car insurance isn't an invitation to smash your car up and claim all the associated benefits to the insurance.

It's a demonstration that, should something go wrong, there are policies in place to compensate for the problem, (above and beyond ordinary legal requirements in the case of Tesco.)

Seeking to abuse that is just so wrong it is painful to see all the !!!!!! attempt to justify it. Ultimately, the benefit is gone so I suppose the majority have yet again been shafted by a vocal, active yet amoral minority:mad:
