  • Nearly got banned today... When offered only d&d on overpriced items, I had the impudence to point out that another store had told me that the d&d policy replaces r&r on Monday 19th Feb. I told them that their d&d policy was on the board too early and how could one store be doing different from another one as wasn't the company policy nationwide etc?

I realise how silly and stupid it was to be so obvious. I really didn't want to be banned from my local and they relented saying I should stay clear of the CS desk in future, which I suppose like a well behaved little customer I will.

But it does anger me. Shouldn't they be sorry for overcharging ix many customers who don't check their receipt and even so wouldn't realise the many sel differences etc? If they were really morally correct shouldn't they be sorry and be saying thank you to me so that they wouldn't be overcharging any other punters by mistake? Instead I left feeling like I had been up to no good and acting like a down right criminal.
Big Oops, going back to being shy and retiring.

well it does depend sometimes on if you really are taking the mick, as someone on here the other night was complaining about not being refunded on 5 xbox games that were all the same. That in my book would certainly put out the red flags and i think i too would have refused just because of the greed. but when you go in and just get 3 items of shopping and 5 items all different on overcharges................. Little and often and you get away with it

Yes people are being ripped off and yes it is happening all day everyday but until ts finally stops taking the backhand from tescos to keep quiet theres not a lot else going but the day WILL come

Plenty of opportunites still about just bide your time, and whilst waiting get yourself a nice pile of coupons cos that will hurt the profits whn they can't redeem them (my many thanks to somerfields:D)

    Actuallllyyyy...

There is another supermarket that does do something similar to R&R, but it is at the store's discretion and isn't given any publicity. It's rarely given for overcharges, though. It's used when a customer buys a product that is then returned due to being off/faulty/bad quality. The customer is then given a full refund and a replacement. "Which store?" I hear you ask...

    ASDA.

(Was told this by a manager the other day.)
I have mentioned this policy previously but the uptake on the Asda threads that have been previously started has been low and they have died natural deaths {unlike Tesco's which has managed to run two years from only its second thread posting.}, funnily enough because far less misprices were discovered.

    However their meat is rank.

  • Now this confusing me ....you set out to reject the goods. When you entered the store? When the figures didn't tally? You did not want them to rectify the situation? You deliberately spoiled perishable food? You were not willing to accept that human beings made mistakes? and You felt it inconceivable that you had made a mistake! I am sorry you and I are in different worlds.

Someone said earlier about the food wasted by, in this case, Tesco. For many years this food was recycled by charity organisations. Fear of European Legislation stopped that and even local recyclers were discouraged. In an age where you can contract deadly diseases in hospital why do we, as a society worry about food that may be a coupla days past sell by date?

I reckon those Asda threads are about to pick up....................

If the policy actually changes on 26th February (as per Constantine's info and as I have read on Tesco's own 'verylittlehelps' forum) then how can so many stores start implementing the policy early?

At the very least, should we not all be jamming the Dundee Customer Service line in the next 9 days if offered anything less than a full refund? Arm yourself with a false name and spare mobile sim number beforehand if you wish to remain anonymous.

Can't see how they can issue an email (copied for all to see on the 'verylittlehelps' forum) stating 26th February as the implementation date, and not continue to honour the old policy until then. Thanks to jeanie on vlh for this:

    'as they say FYI ...

In response to feedback from stores and from ourselves, the company refund policy in respect to overcharge situations will change from week commencing monday 26th february 2007.
From this date, our policy will be that if there is a pricing error, we will refund double the difference only customers will no longer be offered a refund and be allowed to retain the product.
The only exception to this will be if a product is double scanned.
In this situation the customer will be given the product free.
Double scans are now rare due to a change in tilling systems.
Stores have been given some discretion to offer small gestures in this instance.

sorry it took so long to post kept forgetting to email it home'

I didn't deliberately spoil perishable goods they deteriorated whilst Tesco employees tried in vain to convince me I was wrong and they were right, they succeeded in neither. Had they charged me the correct price the goods would have been mine and at that time I would have required them to replace any perishables with fresh stock for allowing mine to spoil.

Yes I am but a mistake is only a mistake if you correct it when given the opportunity this unfortunately isn't the case, to bribe me with r&r or dtd does not resolve the mistake unless followed up with preventory action to ensure it does not recur. This is not the case.

I didn't feel it inconceivable that I was incorrect, I merely used the statement to ensure it brought about the effect it did, had the CO not immediately presumed the error was on my part I would have adopted a different posture and agreed that either one or both of us had miscalculated and that the whole transaction be checked nonetheless.

My apologies for confusing you I trust my explanations help.
